Age Gaps

I'd figured #88's departure was on the horizon, but I sure didn't see it going down this season,,, I guess my youthful exuberance continually expressed towards #9 stems from enjoying seeing him play, with Rodger Staubach a close second( Super Bowls notwithstanding) #8 at the helm was methodical ,his team was exciting to see dominate but for me, the single QB I enjoyed the most rootin' & pulling for was #9
( :lmao: man! I wanted to hate on #35 Calvin Hill when he rolled with the Skins towards the end of his career, but I couldn't cuz' I liked him to much)
Man, Calvin came back from the World Football League and signed with our hated rival.:mad::mad::mad:

the first player i loved that was just pushed out was Everson Walls. then he signed in ny and won a super bowl, maybe the greatest super bowl of them all. Worked out for walls and Dallas. Same thing happened to Ware. After seeing how the Jones family treated ware at his release i expect all players to be treated like this.

if you watch for long enough it happens.

sitting in the stands of Texas Stadium and hearing fans boo emmitt in his cardinals jersey in 03 was an odd experience.

We don’t know if he was willing to take a significant pay cut, and the Cowboys had to get soemething done in free agency themselves before deciding to let Dez go.

Exactly, on both counts. A business is a business. They felt they couldn't let him go unless they were able to pick up at least one WR in FA. Once they managed to do that, that set the rest of it in motion.
As for the pay cut, they never asked him to, and he didn't offer. He stated after the fact that he would've, but it really doesn't matter.

Letting him go was obviously about a lot more than just the money, but the Cowboys didn't run around making negative statements about Dez after they let him go, but they could've. They could've told a lot of stuff, but they didn't.
Too bad Dez didn't handle it in a professional manner as well. He publicly blamed team captains, coaches, everybody but himself.

30 is more than old enough to understand football is a business.

Dez called out Garrett and his staff and those who stabbed him in the back. You can call Garrett and the players out but Dez cant?
Dez made his own bed, now he doesn't want to sleep in it. He didn't get stabbed in the back. He's been ranting and raving on the sidelines for a long time, and we didn't even see all of it.
If you think "calling somebody out" is such a good idea, how about if the Cowboys publicly "call out" Dez for everything he did wrong?
But they didn't do that because it would be very unprofessional of them.

And speaking of "unprofessional", that term would be a good description for much of Dez's behavior, both past and present.
And I liked Dez. He was passionate and all in for the game, but that doesn't excuse his behavior.

He feels like he was done wrong (he was). He was willing to take a pay-cut and stay on a team that was going to feature the run. Not to mention they waited so late in the free agency game to do it. Cmon no one likes everyone they work with. We showed him no respect

It was kinda dirty to wait 10 days before the draft to release him. Like Nick Eatman said, they were going to cut Dez on day 1 of free agency if they would have signed Sammy Watkins, so they knew right then they wanted to go in another direction.

Look, I have been very critical of Dez last season. He dropped a lot of balls and even he admitted that his head was not in the game on some occasions. But, he did deserve better than to be treated like this. Dave Helman basically said the same thing, that you don't treat a player that is your all-time leader in TDs and possible future Ring of Honor inductee like he is a pedo and you want nothing to do with him.

It could have been handled a lot better, but as usual, this group of idiots running the franchise botched it.

The coaching staff made adjustments. It's not at all like you are saying. It was a bad performance by a couple of players, not the coaches. And we are talking about only one game. It happens, it's no reason to throw the baby out with that bath water. Dak wasn't the same after that because be didn't have Tyron Smith guarding his blind side or Zeke to run the ball until the end of the season... as I've already stated.
hey Joe--- i do like how you support the leadership...who knows maybe they are on to something?

I support Jerry the owner but not Jerry the GM. He needs to get a real GM but I do respect how his kids are all involved in the organization. I confess, I've had a crush on Charlotte for a while. It's not popular to say around here but I like Jason Garrett and think he is doing a good but not great job. I do think the team is headed in the right direction.

mr Joe---- to be honest...i am the kind of person whose emotions go high and very low..and after observing all that happened to Dallas last season which affected their play i was really upset....so i went hard at leadership...if i was a head coach i would want Jason Garrett as one of my under coaches to help not only game plan but motivate the team...I think jason is good Monday thru Saturday...not so much on game day and not so much understanding the condtion of his players at times...but that being said...i will say the cutting of Dez was a really good move for Dak....i think Dak will be a much improved QB not having Dez in his ear...i think Dallas wont have an elite receiving corps this year but maybe after drafting a good receiver and going through training camp they will be good and that is all Dallas needs to be in passing game is good not great for they are primarily a run first team
