This has all been said before. Many times. He's going to have to be a lot more forceful and direct than that for it to get through the noise.

"Three playoff wins in 25 years is FAIL. That's not the fault of coaching and players. It's not. The problem is obviously at the top. But, no skin on my ^&%. If the Cowboys want to be the Cleveland Browns forever, just keep doing what you're doing."

If someone has character and is interessted in the success of his franchise he would be happy to have a guy like Aikman.

Jerry needs to hear this. He needs to listen to all the former pro's who tell him he needs a strong football coach and most importantly he needs to give the guy the power to succeed.

Otherwise we may be getting the next Campo, Wade, Gailey or JG.

Our only hope is that Jerry finally listens.

He’s got a great point. Jerry has created this aura of entitlement for the players whether he realizes it or not.

The team has for many many years been less then the sum of the parts. I think coaching is a huge part of that. Jerry is of course another part of it. I think the red head is a 50 % coach for the most part. Good coaching is being able to take your players and beat the other team or take the other teams players and beat your team. Garret doesn't have that skill set. Never has. No one has ever ever said, we have a top line coach. Hell, we still have time management issues with Garret. That's insane at this point. Jerry needs to hire a top flight coach, give him the requisite control he needs to run that team and write the checks. Its really not that hard with the deep pockets Jerry has. The bigger issue is Jerry's ego and the need to have it massaged on a regular basis.

Unlike Joe Fan or the conventional sports media personality, Aikman is a living Cowboy legend and a HOF QB. Having him speak out is perhaps the best medicine for JJ -- Jerry may not like the message and may not alter his approach, but he will listen.

It's clear that like many of us, Troy is an upset Cowboys fan, frustrated at the way that Jerry Jones runs the team. He tries his best to appear impartial, but he's reached the point where even he can't maintain the illusion anymore.

And I think he's right in the fact that unless Jones changes the way he operates, and ceded control and influence to the new head coach, it's destined to fail. Firstly, because he won't GET a top head coach with options to work under these conditions. That's why we still have Garrett. Secondly, while Jerry can believe whatever lies he wants, the owner being so high profile and involved undermines the head coach's authority and is detrimental.

its not doubt that that jerry jones is a determent to the dallas cowboys but the coaching this season has been awful and the players have not been as good as they should of been its a pretty big mess but I don't think garrett is the coach that will turn things around he has had nine years and he has won two wildcard playoff games eventually wins and losses matter its time for garrett to move on

Exactly right and I think that's a big reason why Aikman is saying what he's saying at this time. Jerry needs to be influenced as he's about to make one of the most important hires this team has had in decades. He needs to be told to step back and let others do their job the way successful organizations do. If not, the very real possibility exists that we get just another puppet coach happy to have the job. And that's a recipe for failure.

Yes, it absolutely is. Jerry is, by far, the biggest problem with the organization. Having said that, I seriously Jerry called down from the owner’s box at the end of the first half last Thursday and told Jason to go into halftime with an unused timeout. I seriously doubt Jerry told Tavon Austin to not return the punt against Minnesota. And I doubt he told Tavon to line up too far back against New England.

Jerry is hard to work for, but that doesn’t mean you stop looking for a coach who can have success here.

It's not about the Xs and Os during the game.
It's the culture he spread all over the organization throughout the past 20+ years
It's the bad coaching hires he's made to insure the coach allow him to interfere with football operation
It's his ego that made him fire Jimmy and let Parcells go, and not bringing in a worthy coach
It's the weekly and post-game interviews he constantly makes
It's the mediocrity he is satisfied with as long as his ego is and deeper insecurity keep running rampant
It's his stubbornness

Who hired this HC and stuck with him all these years when it was evident he is not improving on game day management/coaching? I was a Garrett supporter (one of the biggest) and even I jumped the wagon a couple of years ago because it is not working.

Jerry single-handedly ruined a once very proud well built organization and made it a laughing stock in the whole sports world. The Dallas Cowboys are a comedy reality show all thanks to Jerry. Aikman knows it and I hope he keeps the pressure on Jerry (and Stephen) to make the right HC hire

I wish I could see a scenario where Jerry would be willing to give up his profile. Can you see him giving up the radio show? Being interviewed in the locker room 5 minutes after a game? I feel he has little interest in winning if he doesnt get credit for winning. I like players calling Jerry out like this. But I also fear it backs him into a corner where he may be less likely to give up his status since the narrative if they won a SB next year would be "Cowboys finally win because Jerry got out of the way". I think we need to hope he gets enough satisfaction getting credit for building a talented roster.

Aikman is right and he is the first high profile personality from the cowboys ex players or coaches to reiterate the problem of this organization ( jimmy Johnson used to mention this years ago before his reconciliation with Jerry ) ;

1- The coach should be the main face and voice of the franchise . This instills respect from the players , assistants ,and other teams and the media .
2- Jerry Jones is the face of the cowboys , and is the Gm and owner . This ultimately results in a weaker coach and gives players and assistants a back door to play politics around the coach . Creating a multi layer chain of command . This makes coaching much less efficient as there is no real accountability for results . The coach also knows he cannot fire players or assistsnrs that the owner/ Gm likes .
3- The above will weaken any team or organization . It can survive by pumping money and talent and sometimes you will have good games or seasons , but will not be consistent or world championship caliber .

I feel Stephen one day will act like an owner/Gm and hand the reins to a strong coach or GM . Just don’t think Jerry will do it now . Jerry has a 25 year urge to prove he is a football genius . He has put together 3 super bowl winners , and saved the cowboys from oblivion. The cowboys are the most successful business sports brand in the USA and maybe the world . But his way of running the football side of this organization has weakened the coaches and assistants and killed the chain of command a coach needs to control players and egos and produce results in a competitive league with superior coaches . The results are clear .

Jason should certainly go as he does not have the acumen or personna to coach this team to a Super bowl . Nor does he have the detachment needed to say no to Jerry or limit Jerry’s interference with assistants and players .
Only a coach with super bowl rings can come in and demand this type of authority and command total respect from the players, and yes from Jerry to back off . Only such a coach can produce results and change the cowboys fortunes . The list is short ( belicheck , Payton , Carroll , john harbaugh ), and will require a big sacrifice from Jerry if he is serious about a turnaround.
