plus the way he talks about other QBs...."you gotta throw that away" "you cant just stand in the pocket that long" ......does he remember his last 4 years.....?
With all his concussions...I doubt it.

If this season reminds me of one it is the 1991 Cowboys. We beat the undefeated (to that point) Commanders that year finished 11-5, I believe, and after beating Chicago in Chicago in the wild card, we laid a major egg against a Detroit team we were probably better than. We needed another year of seasoning and a few tweaks. We got it and the tweaks we needed and we all know what happened the next year.

Strongly disagree.

We may have had more talent in several areas (but not all), but we were snot nosed kids who weren't ready to win. No way were we going to beat Detroit. Our secondary wasn't very good and we couldn't rush the passer. Detroit's passing game ate our lunch... plus they had a guy by the name of Barry Sanders, who at that point was considered all-world.

To lose to the Giants at home was abysmal. The Detroit loss in '91 I can understand. There is no understanding of the Giant loss. We **** in our collective underwear.

Anyone who thinks the only thing separating the Pats from us is a little attitude is off their rocker. They only have first round picks and great players everywhere you look, not the mention the quarterback of the last 10 years and maybe one of the better coaches ever.

That's funny, because it wasn't long ago that you were proclaiming that there was no doubt in your mind that we would beat the Pats in a rematch. So what changed? One team kept it's mental focus, and another team lost it. It's not like we're hurting for Pro Bowlers around here.

Aikman said something like if we played the Pats 10 times that the Pats wouldnt win all of the games... we would get a few... I think he said Pats would win 7 of 10.... I disagree... I think its closer to 50-50 or 60-40(Pats).... I think we could hang with the Pats

Actually reminds me nothing of 1991. That collection of players were just getting their first taste of the playoffs. They won their last regular five season games of the season. Then won a playoff game against the Bears, on the road.

I can appreciate many folks try to spin something "good" out of the loss to the Giants.

But the fact is that is was a crummy loss at so many different levels. And the stench will be with us for a long time. From the draft, to training camp, into the playoffs next year... it'll always be, "The Cowboys look damn good but... "

This years team was not packed with seasoned vets either. We are the 4th youngest team in the league. Besides, I said probably better than the Lions. Detroit got slaughtered the next week by the Commanders and I do not recall the Lions really making another serious run ever again in that decade. So, are you saying that the Lions were vastly more talented? Yes, of course, I know Barry Sanders was on that team.

My point is that it reminds me of that time. There are better thing ahead of course perhaps you are saying that this was Dallas' only chance to win? Tuenei, Nate, Jeffcoat and Bates had been around awhile just like Flo, Ellis, TO, and Glenn. Our secondary needs help now just like then. Young QB, still learning his way. Lots of questions about Aikman at that time. Remember it was Beuerlein (sp) who finished the regular season and quarterbacked the team in the playoff win in Chicago. Many questioned Aikman just like Romo though for different reasons.

I look at it as that team as is this team on the rise. That team learned from defeat and built on it I hope this one can too. I will be there to support them no matter what just as I have through every bitter playoff loss from the Steeler super Bowls, to last week they all hurt, but it makes the wins so much sweeter. I like to think positively. Go 2008-2009 Cowboys

.. when will we learn that Troy has a professional side as a media personality and he's entilted to his opinion.

I've heard Moose and other former Cowboys turned announcer make less than glowing statements about the direction of the team and be wrong..also right.

I don't give anymore weight to them because they are former Cowboys. And i don't cringe at their statements.

What I am is happy we get to hear from them and see them on the broadcasts. Even Parcells when he was in the Booth this year before taking the job in Miami.

To me, it's refreshig to hear these guys open up and give their opinion without fear of being cut for doing so or being roasted in the media as when they were players.

To me, Aikamn's current comments come as a result of having been a player and having to stiffle his comments about things because as a QB, he needed to show leadership thru not going public with any problems or concerns he may have had.

Now those shackles are off and he can speak his mind.

Consider, this is probably the TRUE Aikman.

And consider the QB Aikman was a company line person who was being paid to play and not rock the boat with his personal views.

And I don't think Aikamn holds any crudge against the Cowboys.

Go back and play his Hall of Fame speech.

Then tell me he's not a Cowboy and always will be.

But he will speak his mind.

He' s probably making more to do that now than when he was getting his brains bruised in Texas Stadium.

:hammer:

I almost went berserk when I witnessed a poster proclaim that we "overachieved" this year.

Troy stopped being relevant when he was kicked to the Valley Ranch curb, where he suffered a concussion.

I'd say he's more relevant than 99% of the folks on this board.

Just saying.

What did he say that was so outlandish? I'm sure the Saints, Bears, Eagles and Ravens fans were sitting here last year sure that they were going to be back this year competing for a title. I'm sure Dan Marino thought he was going to several more chances for a ring after he lost in 1984. Not every team has multiple chances. We just flushed an opportunity down the toilet, and there's no law that says we're going to get another one.
Thank you!!!. Some cowboy fans need to take the blinders off. You don't get many chances like this. Phillips is 0-4 in the playoffs, no matter what the team does in the regular season next year, they will be judged on what they do in the playoffs. Until we get some mentally tougher players and a coach who isn't just satisfied with 13 wins I think we take a step back next season. Aikman was spot on.

No kidding. In what parallel universe was this not a devastating loss? There's no controversy here. Troy's only crime is candidness.

It's hilarious how fans don't like Troy now because he's objective and not just a blind homer.

It all starts at the top.

I was never happy with the Wade hiring.

I tolerated it as the season went along. We were winning. Maybe Jerry was right...

December....it all started to fall apart.

The team wasn't well conditioned [camp Cup Cake?] and the old doubts were back.

I believe Jason is the future coach of this team.

Aye. I have little time for incessant sunshine pumping and potbanging, but on this I would tend to agree.

The heart of this team is in question, and it should be. These very poor finishes -under two very different head coaches - are an alarming trend.

Whether or not the Giants loss, which was crushing to me, somehow galvanizes this club is anyone's guess right now. But over the past few seasons, the Cowboys have played their worst football once November is ripped away from the calender.

I want to believe this team will return to playing high-level football. I read/hear folks say, "The Cowboys will only get better." I don't know that for certain. I don't care how young they are. Nothing is certain in this league.

How the NYG loss affects Dallas is up for debate. As it stands, it's a terrible defeat and I believe Troy is dead-on for saying as much.

You really believe he is TOTALLY objective??
I'm sorry ,I don't. I think he goes a little overboard to try and show that he is not biased, and it shows.

Not saying your wrong, just stated my observation.
