Al Harris should be on the Cowboys radar as DC!

That should have been the plan. But really Schotty as HC should have the ability to hire whom he wants and I think the entire defensive staff needs an overhaul like they did offense. New DC, with assistants he works well with so they can hit the ground running.
Totally agree

Harris was on Jones' radar. He likely still is. A better question is why wasn't Harris seriously considered for defensive coordinator, when Jones had the opportunity to evaluate BOTH coaches' qualifications BEFORE hiring Matt Eberflus in the first place?
No experience

No thank you. Our window is now and shortening.
If we move on from Eberflus, it must be for a proven, GREAT DC.
Otherwise, keep Flus and give the defense a chance to add some players and have a second year in the system.

No experience
Sarcasm?

Al Harris had accumulated 13 years of coaching experience, at the NFL and college level, by the end of last season. Of those 13 years, five were gained on Jerry Jones' coaching staff.

By comparison, Jones gifted Jason Garrett the offensive coordinator position after two seasons as Miami's quarterbacks coach. That was the sum total of coaching experience listed on Garrett's resume at that point in his career.

When Al Harris was our secondary coach we were one of the league leaders in creating defensive turnovers. He is now with the Bears and no surprise they are leading the league in that department. He worked under Quinn for several years and can install a similar scheme that they were more successful with.
Bring back Harris, DQ, and dare I say . . . Kellen Moore. He's got the blingy on his ringy that all the ignorant, reactionary fans said he'd never get.

When he left Philthy, look what happened.

I'm OK with Harris but I would just let Schotty choose his guy.

BTW.......I read a couple of nuggets that Quinn could be in trouble, especially with how he has handled Daniels.

Hasn’t Harris stated he is about teaching technique to DBs and not scheming a defense?

There is a reason he already has the record for long field goals ....... I will let you try to figure out why that is.
He had two 50 plus yarders and one 60 plus yarder lol. To pretend like the offense didn’t put him in position to kick those is dishonest.

We have gone the proven route, why not look for a rising star like we did with Adams on offense
Adam’s was proven though. He had been in multiple spots showing he can fix a running game. The thing about the rising star route is we are once again having guys learn on the job and wasting the little window we have.

That would be a Start Over in Jerry eyes
I see him keeping Ebb and he will get him the pieces the Ebb's needs Think about it. This was Jerry's pick so he will get that edge and S so he can say He did it.
Heck he thinks we can win this year! lol

I think that statement is being misinterpreted a bit. That statement sounds more to me about staying in his lane as a DB coach rather than trying yo overstep his bounds and begin scheming defenses while working for his defensive coordinator (boss).

I don't believe that he would tell a HC or GM interviewing him for a job that he doesn't know how to scheme a defense or anything about X and O's. Obviously, I could be wrong.

Maybe he doesn't have any aspirations beyond DB coach. Who knows? But, I'd be interested in finding out if I were a HC.

He did add more pieces and they aren't much better.

That's a good point, can't afford to go through those growing pains. I have said Flores is my top target if he fails to land a HC job. Some have mentioned Schwartz from the Browns, both would be good fits as they have an attacking scheme.

I completely agree. Our DBs have taken serious steps backwards since he left. I would love for him to be our DC.
That's what many are missing, these same players have fallen off a cliff, I can understand 1 having a bad season, but not all, which leads directly to the coaching and scheme.

  1. Jim Schwartz if Stefsnski is fired
  2. Jim Leonhard
