My point was our offense struggles against the better teams. My intent is to point that out and let others decide who or what are the contributing factors.

Is your stance that Daks performance level is the same against the better teams and not a factor ?
Pretty much. The Dolphins game was probably his worst of the season. Jason Garrett was a bigger factor for his performance against good teams than Dak's play itself ever was.

Velocity might come into play if a bulk it is thrown from just a few yards away, but otherwise if a ball is thrown in a receivers gut and he drops It the stat keepers aren’t going to refuse to call it a drop because the spin wasn’t right.

I never said differently. So...is that how we are defining "drops" now? That is fine with me.

OF COURSE there are straight up drops on the receiver...I never said nor implied differently. I Wasn;t talking about that I was talking about the mechanics of throwing the football...and how the QB can manipulate the throw to best suit the play situation. This can vary drastically from a tight laser beam 25 yards down...or a underhanded flip 5 yards.

Sometimes a laser beam isn't the best throw for what's happening....a nice rainbow drop maybe. Some QB's are better at it than others. And it can make all the difference in the world on the play.

I don’t have a lot of conversations with D Coordinators around the NFL, do you?

I found an article the quotes the Eagles as "we gotta stop Zeke...stop Zeke stop the cowboys" (paraphrase)...this website almost banned me because it came from a different LEGITIMATE site....

Well said Rogers!

I’m trying to recall other qb’s using the drop stat as an excuse before?

But it’s clear now what this “ drop” stat is all about with the Daksters. It prevented him from breaking 5,000 yards. If he had broken it then it would be another stat they could have touted him with.
As usual, you sound ridiculous Greg. This team led the league in drops (51) by far. Had half of those drops been caught, Dak easily would have passed for 5,100+ yards AT LEAST, the team would have won more games, won the division and been in the playoffs. I know talking about such facts breaks your Romosexual heart. Boohoohoo!

Hmmmm...

Not that I can't see some of the issues involved..

but saying Dak has not had enough help is going over the top.

Back in 2019 as I recall..

Dak had like 9 or more Pro Bowlers that year to support him.

Since then pieces like Amari and other FAs have been added or drafted to help Dak.

Romo never had that support on his team's.

It was just Romo, Dez and Witten and the others were like the deck chairs on the Titanic. Constantly being rearranged.

Dak has a roster of annual All Pros around him on offense.

Wilson, Rodgers and Cousins would kill for what Dak has been given.

So saying Dak has been handicapped is just over stating things.

Later.

Woof.

back in 2019? probowl!? you are talking about probowl? probowl!, really probowl!!!...and I don't put much credence to probowl…..its a joke now...didn't garrett coach in the probowl too? that should tell you enough..

and the argument is always, if you give QB resources, what can they do with it, this notion of a QB doing it all by himself, jumping tall buildings and stopping speeding trains like superman is all total BS

so since Amari, the cowboys offense has been among the best in the league....that included 2018 second half of the season, with a rookie WR and who was the TE again?.....in 2019, #1 offense in the league...you control what you can...can't control defense. can control coaching. can't control special teams......

a roster of annual probowlers, like smith, martin, zeke…..

dak was handicapped by his coaches....I would kill to have their head coaches.....I wonder how those guys would do with a garrett offense.....

And besides talking points for the Dakster crowd what does a couple hundred more yards represent ?

Screw Romo. I criticized him as well. You try to make it about picking sides because that’s what you did.

Ok . So you believe Dak plays , performs and produces at the same level last year in his 8 wins as his 8 losses? Okey dokey. Lol

More excuses just like fans used to have with Romo. Just win and shut all of the critics down.

The post you were responding to was about how drops are defined, so I assumed you were responding on that topic. I agree different types of throws fit different circumstances.

okay …. so that means no D-coordinator in the NFL ever said they were concerned with stopping Dak?

That's OK, the Daksters are building their case just as the Romo Lovers used to do. I really don't know why they feel the need to defend them but some do.

At least it hasn't got as nasty as the Romo Wars did on the old site. Never got that, why in the hell does anyone care? He's not family or even a friend or doesn't owe anyone money and didn't steal their woman.

I could care less if someone here does or doesn't like Prescott anymore than they did Romo and with some, there is a connection.

He is going to be the QB of the Cowboys at least this year so we'd all better be hoping he has a great year.
Yea, it’s becoming a similar Circle Jerk for the Slobbering Daksters as it was for Slomo.

They enjoy disappointment more with him? Isn’t that special . Lol

I let everyone decipher that our for themselves. Are you one who believes Dak plays or produces at that same level against the better or more elite teams?
I am a believer that all QBs produce less against better teams and better defenses and have better stats against lesser teams and worse defenses. this is not a Dak issue as many Dak detractors like to make it out to be....you can't just put Dak's stats out there in games against winning teams in a vaccum...its got to be compared to other QBs to make sense......its like saying a QB threw for 3500 yards.....that's bad, but if he is top 5 in the league as it was maybe 20 years ago, then that means its the league, the sport, the rules that make it that way......

dak detractors tend to analyze every bad throw or focus on a bad game or I have seen some focus on a bad series, calling it that's what he is..... and they call it an "eye test", but every QB has bad games, bad stretches and bad throws.....but good QBs make more good plays, on a more consistent basis than bad plays. that goes for all of them.....I can give you a few Aikman, Romo, Brady, Rodgers bad games and perhaps come to conclusion....further the Dak detractors point to him not having won a superbowl yet as if his career ends this year!!! Wilson, Mahomes over the past 5 years have been only rookies to win superbowl on their rookie contract over the past 15 years......

despite what us fans say here, what some radio head personalities say to get listners and clicks, there are professional football minds, like McClay, McCarthy, even Jones (gasp) who know better, who know way way way way more than anyone, perhaps all of us combined on this board....even his agent, who is networked into the NFL having represented multiple clients knows better, why? because if he knew Dak wouldn't be demanded by the league would he be stupid enough to play hard ball like he is? are the jones', McCarthy and McClay so stupid to do what they are doing....seriously!!!

so I tend to lean towards the experts of the sport as opposed to fans such as yourself (and me included) who are arguing a moot point on a message board for entertainment...and that's what it is...until football starts, because we are all tired, anxious, bored.....

Stop the grade school insults - this discussion can occur without it. There are reasonable posters who believe in Dak, and reasonable posters who are skeptical of Dak. Don't let the extremists define the tone of the discussion

Well, Greg, how did the highest paid players on the team perform last year? THAT is where you should be directing your attention.
There’s plenty of blame to go around.

But the ones who were All Pro and Pro Bowler probably performed at the higher level.

I only read your last paragraph in full but I’d agree these fan forums can be just as much meaningless noise as the Mediots. Personally I follow the local media and beat writers. Have been since I could pick up a paper or turn on the local radio and TV. And I generally align with those who lean closer to my thoughts.

I was insulted first with the Romo slant. I guess he forget I was booted off of old forum for bashing Romo’s love letter to say goodbye . Lol

And yes there are. But this isn’t a reasonable one.

I’m not the one with the childish crush. I’m old enough to be these players grandfather.

Great lets celebrate . 7 losses against team 8-8 or better. Throw the whole bankroll at him . When he accomplishes anything more than wins ****** teams then they can talk about top dollar. Im glad you and your ilk arent negototiating for the team. Give him a salary commensurate with his achievements and thats fair.
Imk not saying Dak is bad. I do like him but the rose colored love affair around here and the willingness to just bend over is silly.

Inj the end he's gonna get PAID big time. If he takes us onward and upward I will be willing to praise him to no end.

Any attempt to pin an 8-8 record on one player is flawed. When you can form a better argument, let me know.

I BOTH believe in Dak, AND am skeptical of him. Is that allowed?
