all for those who want Turner as HC

Did norv have any say in talent? according to everything I saw no he did not that was left up to the GM the same GM who has bothched draft after draft in Houston.

Yes, he did. Particularly Michael Westbrook and Heath Shuler. Norv had plenty of input in Washington. And he had talent. And it always failed. In Oakland, he probably didn't have much input or talent, but a good coach will still take a bad situation and make it better. Norv never made any team better.

As I said he is not my 1st choice but unlike you I would not have an issue with Turner becoming HC.

this is all for naught ..... because Rivera will be the next coach of the Dallas Cowboys

don't tease me :(

I am not ..... Jerry is trying to make Norv look like a real candidate so people will start talking about him again ..... this is all to help his buddies standing in the league.

He is waiting till after the superbowl to make a decision ..... and there is only one person he could be waiting for.....

(If Norv gets hired tonight ...... disregard what I just said ... :D)

I thought the Raiders were idiots for hiring Turner 3 years ago. :eyepoke:

...talent to work with something Turner lacked in Washington and Oakland and without talent no team will win.

How can you say that? Did you not watch the NFL in the late '90's? Norval's teams in Washington were very talented, in fact I think they had several pro-bowlers and many other great players.

Excerpts from 1999 SI article announcing Norval's firing:

As reported by Sports Illustrated's Peter King, Washington Commanders head coach Norv Turner was fired Monday after failing to live up to Super Bowl expectations with the most expensive team in NFL history.
Owner Dan Snyder made the move after watching his $100 million roster lose 9-7 on Sunday to the New York Giants.

"It's all about winning," Snyder said. "We assembled the best team we could put together. At this point we just really needed to make a change, driven with what I call some serious leadership."

"Norv did not threaten players," guard Keith Sims said. "Some guys took advantage of him. Terry (Robiski) -- you're not going to take advantage of him."

(I would never hire him as HC after that statement from one of his own players).

...The stakes became higher this season (1999) when Snyder spent millions on players, including Deion Sanders, Bruce Smith, Jeff George, Mark Carrier, and draft picks LaVar Arrington and Chris Samuels. Snyder, who bought the team in 1999, also brought in (Ray) Rhodes to handle the defense.

Just say no to Norval, but all signs point to his hiring, unfortunately. Another puppet for Jones' vicarious dream of actually being HC himself.

if Norv Turner was the Giant Ocoordinator in '92 and '93, and he had this record, noone would want him

Thats 100% true.

We might as well otherwise be talking about Chris Palmer.

Was the HC of the expanasion Browns. Well you cant hold failure against him there.. it was an expansion team!

Went on to be OC at another expansion team that decided to throw a first year QB to the wolves.. cant hold that against him either.

But did help BP get NE to the SB as an offensive assistant.

And was the OC at Jax for 2 years when they went deep into the playoffs with Brunell having career years.

So sign him up!! Oh wait... we just let him go.

Super Dave.

Maybe we could get Fuji to be his assistant.

What does that even mean?

You know what? Him not noticing who is on the sidelines during football games may be the reason he is a Norv fan!

He never paid any attention to the games that Norv coached!

......positives for Turner?.......

If I was having a barbecue at the house I'd pick Norv over most of the other coaching candidates. He seems like a great guy. Of course I thought that about George Bush and GW Bush.:(
