We have some bad diagnosticians then.

Something isn't right.

What's not right is you expecting straight answers on injury questions. They are not trainers and doctors and they have no advantage to telling the press anything with precision.

maybe after they got the mri they found it was worse than expected. a dislocated shoulder can require surgery. i have no rpoblem with keeping a little mystery about injuries. people praise bellicheck for doing but when it's this team there is something wrong with it

I don't expect 100% accuracy but this is odd.

I don't think it matters if it is a 2 or 4 or 6 week injury in this case.

They can't use PUP, because it was not a preseason injury.
They won't use short term IR, because you use that for really good starting players and you only get one of those.
They are using IR, because they don't want to cut another 53 man roster player to add Long, again for an injured backup player.

We are acting like Bass is some beast we can not do without, he is a nice backup who might have some upside (hence putting him on IR) that has been on IR twice in the last 2 years.

Ha, I guess I was optimistic when I predicted the so-called 2-4 week injury would be a 4-6 week injury. IR? Really?

He could have had rotator cuff damage and if he has surgery for that it is at least 6 months.

No one said best case. Where did that come from.

Initial diagnosis was a simple separation. That is a best case scenario for the injury. We've seen these sort of estimates all summer. You get a look with an MRI it might show something else as Zack points out.

Really Davey999, you seem to be looking for something that isn't there. Clearly he's hurt bad enough that he's going to miss much more time than the initial 2-4 week projection.

Hopefully they cut Arkin & Weems in the coming days to make room for depth at positions of need(CB,DT).

So before our 1st game, we have now 7 players on season ending IR. Johnson, Crawford, Bass, Livings, Albright, Cook, Frampton. lol. Add Ratliff to that list soon enough after coming back from pup.
Livings was released.

seems like about the only player we could have replaced him with and had on the field sunday. not many players can come in with no camp and never been in the system and play in 2 days.

I think it is a good move to IR Bass only if the plan is to use Long as depth for the Giants game, and then sign a vet DT (Seymour, etc) to replace Long. Otherwise, I hate to lose Bass for the season. He had a good camp.

Trade our 1st round pick in 2045 for Geno Atkins. Problem solved.
