Good to hear. I probably don't notice him inline as much, as I don't watch the game in replay that often to really see what's going on. It's easier to notice guys in space.

Good inline blocking is a big deal. Makes him an asset. Get better blocking in space, learn to reliably execute out of short yardage packages, and he becomes a real threat in short yardage.

But the flat out drop against the Rams hurt. 3 receptions on 8 targets for the year. Ugh! What's up with that? He was supposed to be the big soft hands, long arms, large catch radius guy. TEs have to reliably catch the ball.
I say Rico retires. Playing any longer only puts his legacy and spot in the RoH at risk. He has nothing left to prove.

They need to get back into the first round. See if you can trade him for that #1.
The question is not Rico as that experiment will be over but who will the new pet cat be? Got to have that player that just intrigues the hell out of us and we think 'if they'd just play him, we'd get that ring'. And of course, it helps if he hasn't played football for a while but some other sport unrelated to football.

I am hoping for Ollie Gustafson, curler from Wisconsin State Penitentiary. We need a deep snapper and word is he's pretty darn good at it.

Cedric Wilson without a doubt. He's already the next great hope and hasn't played a snap

Spider Rico or Rico Suave would have as much impact as Gathers.

As would Uncle Rico...

The word on him was that he needed to block to be able to make it on the field.

Cowboys have been pretty good about developing players and he had very little football background. It's been a progression. At the end of the day he has power and is showing that he can use it. I've seen him combo and use the correct angles to form lanes in ZBS. I've seen him dig out defenders digging in at the line; he drives and turns LB to set the edge.

I hope that he is able to progress in the passing game moving forward but even if he cannot, given the lack of TE blocking talent in the game nowadays, he is already going to find a job be it here or elsewhere.

Yes sirrie! Rico Gathers will use this offseason to learn new routes! Improve his blocking and improve his hands! This time we really mean it!
He will be all pro next year and will be our starting TE.
Why, because we want him to be good and I am sure this will be the case in 2019!
Step up! Step up!

Tell us why you think Rico will RULE IN 2019!!
He's young, he's tall, he's at 285 and from Baylor? Yes sir! From Baylor, where gentlemen are made!
Step up! Step up!
We got cotton candy, popcorn and pink limeade, fellas!

Got any offseason info on Rico, Greatest Show on Earth?

We hope that one of these years we'll be right about him. Maybe? Doubt it .
He would have shown it by now don't you think?

But when Jerry likes a player, it could take years to remove him.
I call it the Shante Carver-Terrance William Syndrome.
