Jared Allen's meeting with the #Cowboys starts tonight with some meetings and goes into tomorrow. Too early to know if he'll sign or walk.


JA is having meeting with Dallas tonight and going into tomorrow. Could Dallas and Melton be talking with Allen tonight? Just an assumption but it could be there.

At this point with where we are in our roster, a pass rusher is just as important as Melton would be. If we sign Melton, then we have to sign Allen or take the best one available in the draft. If not, signing Melton will not mean anything. In two years everyone will say he was a wasted signing. He'll get double teamed every snap, and never amount to anything because we won't have anyone on the edge helping him out...

I always thought Ware and Allen had very similar careers. I consider them 1a and 1b the greatest pass rushers of this era. Their career numbers were almost identical. Allen is a year older, but Ware also started to break down a little faster, and the plus side is Allen played his whole career as a 4-3 DE. I find replacing Ware/Hatcher with Allen/Melton to be a pretty even trade off. Depending on health, you'd have to say Melton > Hatcher because he's 5 years younger.

Adding these two along with some new draftees will make Carr look worthy of his contract. Big difference between having a line that can push vs one that doesn't.

Oh, ok. I know he's been in the league a year longer. I'm not sure about Allen's injury history. I just know Allen and Ware were the most consistent dominant pass rushers of this generation. But I'll take Allen because he's played the 4-3 his whole career. I hope it's a no-risk contract because Allen is nothing more than a progress stopper.

I agree. I'd rather see us see what we have and stay young. That's what we did with the OL and it started to finally pay off.

I'd rather sign Melton and wait on Spencer. I do NOT want to restructure Carr or Witten.

You know if they restructure Carr, Witten and Free they are still 28m UNDER the cap in 2015 and thats with Romo's 27m cap hit.

I don't think it's a lateral move. As @JoeyBoy718 said, Allen's been a 4-3 WDE his whole career. Ware was a 3-4 OLB.

Be patient. The criticism is dependent on what we do.

When we sign big-name free agents, Jerry's the attention ***** who's ruining the team's cap with "another bad contract."

When we don't sign big-name free agents, it's because our cap situation is so dire (because of Jerry, of course) that we can't afford it. Or he's making money so he no longer cares about winning. Or the team is such a laughingstock that nobody wants to come here.

Well, no one. That's the unfortunate thing. At least when we gutted the OL, we had some potential talent. To think of it, we really didn't. We drafted Smith that year and we were hoping guys like Free and Costa could replace Flozell and Gurode. The only guys we really have are a bunch of guys who are rotational players at best--Selvie, Bass, Crawford.

Neither. He will sign CJ2K, Champ Bailey, and trade up for Clowney.

I would not put it past Jerry Jones to wait until we have them both signed, jersey numbers assigned/printed, to do a presser to announce them both.

Hold up the jersey with their name/number, talk about what an honor it is to play for their childhood favorite team, talk about winning a Super Bowl in Dallas, playing for Coach Marinelli, etc. etc.

If JJ is able to pull this off he has redeem himself. Ill back off him for a while. Add in Shaun Phillps we may have a squad.

I think Jerry signs both of these guys if he can. His credibility as a GM pretty much demands he fix the worst defense in team history.

His credibility as a GM has never been something he was concerned about before.
