If Cooper was in the 2018 would you have drafted him

I would have in a heartbeat

24 yrs young and runs a 4.42 with 3 years NFL experience

Certainly hope he works out or else this will be another bad move by Jerry Jones in the long run.

That's fine. If you value the pick, that makes sense.

But people here are disappointed we wouldn't take a 2019 quarterback. There is little of value there.

I agree that there is little value in taking a 2019 QB. I think the class is fine, but they won't do us much good, especially with Garrett. My thinking was more defencively for this year, and then get Tua the following season (with a new coach, of course). I think Dak will be fine with a different coach (not great, but better than he is right now). I actually don't mind the aggressiveness from the FO, but I felt a 1st was a bit of an overreach considering the drop rate. Then again, I am aware of the competition that we had for this chap, so maybe it'll be a good decision. Plus, I personally think Dak's better than Carr. Dak's a bit more careful with the ball than Carr is, so I think that can help Cooper. I'd be interested to see how many of the drops by Cooper were actually his fault. Yes, Carr can throw a good ball, but I think that he's a tad more loose than Dak is. So, maybe it'll work out for us. I try to be optimistic.

Over the past three seasons, Cooper has had a drop rate of 13.62 percent, which ranks fourth-worst in the NFL (among qualifying receivers) behind Torrey Smith (16.82), J.J. Nelson (15.91) and Raiders teammate Seth Roberts (14.39).

Wrote Scott Barrett of PFF: “Cooper led the league in drops (18) and drop rate (20.0 percent) in his rookie season (2015), but then seemed to get past the issue in 2016, dropping only four passes. In 2017, Cooper again led the league in drop rate (17.2 percent). Not only are these numbers bad, but they’re historically bad. Since 2007, there have only been three players to see at least 100 targets and post a drop rate of 17 percent or worse: Braylon Edwards (2007 and 2008), Greg Little (2011) and Cooper (2015 and 2017).”

Did I post Cooper was great last season?
Did anyone mention he’s had a 20% drop rate, one the highest in the league?
Look Im not completely dissing Cooper. He has talent. He is an upgrade. But why didn’t this team make this move sooner. They had waste half the season before realizing their receiving corps sucked? Half this board was screaming in August we needed help at receiver.

Cooper is making 700k this year and the fifth year option costs the Cowboys 13,7 Million $ Capspace next year. After that he is UDFA and will want Top WR Money....

So basically we rented an expensive declining receiver for 1,5 years and gave up a Top 10-15 Pick. This is a Madden like Deal for the Raiders.

Well, I guess we're not getting a QB this year lol. In all seriousness, this WAS an opportunity to get a high draft pick. On the other hand, I suppose it puts more pressure on Garrett, which is good. We better make the most of this, or maybe this could turn out very good for us in terms of coaching.

And, actually, now that I think about it a bit more, I think that this could be BRILLIANT for our next coach. I truly think this IS a shot at Garrett and/or Linehan to say, "I've spent a lot on this chap to give you offencive help, now produce!"

Ahhh, the old someone-else-might-have-gotten him defense that apologists like to roll out after every Jerry move.

Offer a 2nd and a 4th then if that was even true. Don't give up your most valuable asset.

Dude, you act like they can't move up in the draft to get their guy. Jerry has done it before. And with the way we've drafted the last few years, I trust Will McClay. Besides:

Guys, I've figured it out: Jerry was wasted last night after the heartbreaking loss. He meant to call Dak to threaten to start Cooper Rush but called Reggie McKenzie on speed dial by accident and traded for Amari Cooper.

Raiders fans are ecstatic over on their boards.

Can't blame them.
Their bar is set so unbearably low. They are losing their franchise in their town, they overpaid their coach, and the have blown the whole thing up.

Yeah, they have a lot of first round picks but they still are picks. They'll miss on at least 2 of them.

And anyone who would rather be the Raiders right now needs to go support them. They're horrible
