Yes, but, to look at it alternatively, I'm not sure a 1st is necessarily good value for a WR, especially a high 1st. If it's a mid-late 1st round pick, then fine, not bad for Cooper. I can see that being the logic here.
I agree with you. They had to make this trade. They just made it 7 games too late.

For those on the edge of the bridge. Go look at all the 1st round WR’s drafted in the last 5-6 years.

who cares. now go look at the safeties and Dlinemen. I'd rather have any one of them on a 5 year rookie deal. Or even QBs which is likely to be a need at some point. The door is closed on all of them. Leave your options open, sign a FA draft a WR in the 2nd? options options options, now they have none. Just stupid.

Cian is on crack........it screams the exact opposite to me.

I can see your viewpoint.

"All excuses are removed now with a half season for Garrett to save his job. Division Title or Bust".

Which is a built in excuse for Garrett and Dak.

"One more shot with a true number 1. We all mis-evaluated our roster, the lack of outside threat doomed the running game and Dak's progress in year 3."

It's a complete comedy of errors. We were completely taken to the cleaners on this deal. Absolutely positively this is a failure of the first degree.

Teams know that we will eventually fold and release the player. Look around the league, you see teams get a mid-round pick for veterans all the time. Whenever we get to that stage with one of our veterans, we always release the player.

Yes, that's true. Still, I'd like to see what we can get for Lee after the season. I don't want him walking away and getting nothing in return.

Yes, and, if the Eagles HAD gotten him, then people would be screaming bloody murder about that too. So Jerry can't really win with some fans on here in that regard. He has to make the moves that he thinks will get us the results that we want. Cooper is at least a logical move. My biggest drawback was the 1st round pick, but, when I look at the competition that we had for him and the fact that we look abysmal at WR, I have to conclude that Jerry had no choice but to make this move, given how our division looks at the moment.

Just saw this news. Absolutely horrible trade. This franchise has learned nothing from the Joey Galloway and Roy Williams trades. The one core competency this franchise has is doing well with its high draft picks and it just gave that away.

Has Jerry already made the statement that no wide receiver they will draft next year will have the immediate impact that Cooper will have? Because that’s exactly what he said with Galloway and Williams. I’m sure next April he’ll be taking about our special teams draft.

At least it was just one first round pick. Im not too down about it. I’m happy they did it during the busy week so he has time to study the playbook and should be available next game. We need good wr’s and he’s better than what we have

I agree. If he doesn’t step up and win. It’s over for him. Cooper is a talent. He’s only 24 but my issue is. Garrett fired. New coach does not have a first round pick.

Exactly.

"Here's your team Coach. Hope you can work with Dak Prescott as your QB1. We believe in him, so you do too"

Who will want this job?

It's gone sir.

As is the team's blazing hot future. The senile old man has struck again.

Yes, it is gone. However, as I've been thinking about it, I don't know if it was a terrible move either. I can certainly see the logic, and we do look abysmal at WR. Like @eromeopolk and I said, I dunno if Jerry really had a choice if we're going to be competitive this year. Plus, with this being our bye week, it gives Cooper an extra week to learn our offence, so that's another good reason for the move.
