You think? I don't see it that way at all. Emmitt was like a little tank, especially in the legs. Rice looks a lot smaller to me.

I think you're thinking of the Emmitt Smith after being in the league a couple of years.

As a rookie, he wasn't a "little tank".

Edit: And if you were gonna type "Ya think?" you should of used this...

So because you see the Browns being a "bad team" but not "the worst," we should end all hopes of getting McFadden?? Yeah ok.

The point is not how good or bad the browns will be.. we have key positions that have no depth and others with a bunch of old guys.. i BET you they will not take McFadden next year.. i guarantee you they will pass him or somebody will take him before us.. this is just every ones on here dream is McFadden.. the ultimate fantasy you guys have on here remember this post i made and come holler at me draft day..

The last thing we need is a RB.. we need to look at CB and WR

None of us know this one way or the other. I hope we do get a stud RB I don't know that we will but I think if Dallas has a chance at McFadden they will take him.

Of course we can package our picks and trade up if possible. McFadden is a keeper. It will not be easy unless we have a top 3 pick, IMO.

Just my opinion but I think we get a top 2 or 3 pick out of Cleveland, I don't think they are a good team and playing in a tough division is not going to help matters. Will we just wait and see how it plays out

If we have a top 3 pick, we likely won't have to trade up for him.

A QB (likely Brohm) will go #1. And there's always some guy that jump up there in the top of the draft no one expects. RBs usually don't go that high.

Even a couple of years ago, I was saying out of Cadillac, Brown, and Benson, none of them deserved to go in the top half of the first.

Other then a quick start by Cadillac, they're proving me right. And I REALLY liked Cadillac coming out. But none of them were THAT good. `

Thats what I meant. Sorry if I wasnt clear. The best way for us to get him is to draft him with a top 3. If not it will be tough, but a trade possible.

Unless the Cleveland pick is also a top pick. MAYBE you can go from 5th-6th to 3rd throwing in our own picks in the late 20s hopeully better. Wont be easy... No one will want our 22nd pick to give up a shot at a Brohm/Mcfadden unless its a very attractive offer.

My plan B would be the next LT..Ray Rice. If we need an RB we have options...

From the Garden State... ??!!

One of my early dream draft scenarios is Glenn Dorsey, NT, LSU with the Browns pick, and Ray Rice, RB, Rutgers with ours.

He reminds me very much of Emmitt Smith. Plays with amazing heart, good vision, about the same size, smart, and a workhorse.

I still covet McFadden, but I could live with Ray Rice for sure.

I think he is the 3rd or 4th RB in the draft. No doubt this college season will determine this but right now I see him at best as the 3rd back in the draft.
I think the top backs are McFadden, Slaton , (Mich) Mike Hart and Rice

Hart is another 5'-9" guy and listed at 196 lbs, four less than Rice's 200 lbs.

Emmitt was often listed at 5'-10" or even 5'-11" at times, but was really shorter. I wonder if these guys are actually 5'-9" or are they a bit shorter.

I won't discount these guys on their height and weight. I base them on how they play and on a small part on who they play. Rice does not get to face great competition as frequently as Hart, but if you dominate you dominate. Jerry Rice, Randy Moss and Walter Payton all played at small schools that faced inferior opponents. They just dominated so much that it showed they were players.

Dallas is going to have good options with their two first rounders.

1. Don't you know we "need" a CB and it's always smart to draft for need? So if DMac is available with our first 1st rounder, and a CB is available that's not rated nearly as high on the board as DMac, we should obviously take the CB.

2. It's ONLY ok to talk about drafting a CB. Forget that JuJo won't be here next year and we might have a chance to draft a true STUD at RB, we should ONLY talk about drafting a CB.

:hammer:

Same here. Rice is nice, but McFadden is my #1 choice.
James Davis. Late round one, early round 2. I am thinking we wont be in position to get McFadden. So I would love to go DeSean Jackson, James Davis, then a corner in round 2

Didn't you start a thread last year (or some time ago) talking about the failure rate of first round DTs?

There is NO WAY that Jerry passes on McFadden. If he's there and we're picking, he's gonna be a Cowboy... Book that.

EDIT: barring some injury to DMac.

I live in jersey and watch Rutgers every week and even go to a game or two a year. I'm NOT saying he will have the same type of career, but it is scary how similar he is as a back to Emmitt. He's basically the same size and he's not really that fast, but he gets by with amazing vision, shifty moves, and running hard. I would love to have him in the late 1st or early 2nd.

I agree I don't judge a RB based on height and weight I also do not care if he has sprinters speed I look at how he explode through the hole, how they shake off tacklers, their balance and vision. When I saw Emmitt at Florida I knew this guy would be a good back, no way of knowing he was going to be as good as he was but just watching his running ability you could see this guy was going to be good.

If McFadden is there maybe Dallas can trade down and gain a 1st round pick in 2009. :laugh1:

Not that I know of. I remember one by Fuzzy about failure rates of 1st round WRs.

I'd like us to add a young offensive playmaker.

The reality of it is, like many have said, its rare for a good team to get to pick at what should be a top draft position. We need to utilize that chance. If a top playmaker exists at RB; take him. If it exists at WR; take him. But regardless of position, we need to add a young playmaker.

(I am not saying reach for one; but if one is available and is where we are slotted...)

You know how difficult teams would have it if we added an elite RB to Owens, Crayton, Glenn, Witten, Fasano? Wow. Or a Desean Jackson to be groomed to replace Glenn? We'd be stacked with weapons for awhile.

Scenario A:
DeSean Jackson (browns pick)
Ray Rice (our pick)
CB (round 2)

Jackson groomed for Glenn; an elite type RB, a good CB. Our offense would be stacked.

Scenario B:
McFadden
CB
WR (round 2)

Stacked again....

__________

On the topic of Glenn Dorsey..... would we spend that high of a 1st rounder on a NT?
