The old stadium was fun but it needed to be replaced. The new stadium is 100x better. Unfortunately the fanbase has much less to cheer for and as a result is less rowdy.
The fan base had a reputation for being pretty "unvocal" back in the TS days too. The TS crowd was always criticized for being too entitled. I mean they did boo Troy Aikman and chanted for Hambrick to replace Emmitt. I think the ticket and parking prices at the new place probably cost us some of the rowdiest of the fan base but that AT&T crowd can get friggin loud when it wants to. And since they can squeeze nearly 40,000 more people in there it's probably louder at its peak than TS could have ever hoped to be. It's just not as consistent in my estimation.

Such a better atmosphere than AT&T….Texas Stadium was bare bones but charming as heck. JerryWorld is all flash and no substance.
The first Cowboys game l ever saw in person was at Texas Stadium. It was a playoff game against Tampa Bay and we won 38-0. Absolutely awesome atmosphere. Unfortunately, our next game was "the catch" in San Francisco...

Place was a dump. Jerry could’ve done better with the new place but nostalgia is getting the best of ya.
It was a dump the last 3-4 years of its existence- 2005-08…but only because the Cowboys organization chose not to invest any repairs because they knew the the new stayjum was coming. I can understand that decision.

But in its hey-day, Texas Stadium was an icon of the Cowboys dominance of the 70s and 90s. I saw dozens of Cowboys games, college fb games as well as several HS playoff games, and even some big concerts there. It was a true football home field. You felt closer to the action and getting in and out there was way better than the nightmare that AT&T is today.

Putting it another way- Texas Stadium felt like a true football home field. AT&T feels like a shopping mall where a football game is being staged.

There was a certain charm about Texas Stadium, but AT&T is a much nicer place to watch a game. The only downside when you have such a nice stadium is others from visiting teams also want to be there.

My first game was the playoff game on January 8th, 1995 vs. Green Bay. Unfortunately, our next game was “The Mud Bowl” in San Francisco….

Amazing parallel you and I have there.

No offense, but if you want a “nice” place to watch a game, stay at home. I want a stadium on top of the players and crowed together like sardines. That’s sports!

Regardless you can't beat the live experience and being among other fans. I've been to both stadiums, but much prefer AT&T stadium. It also adds to the allure of the Cowboys and its hard to not be impressed when you walk-in. Playing in a crap stadium, while you sit in the upper deck just isn't as enjoyable.

I think still nothing. Last time I drove by looked like a storage area for construction items.

I believe a church group was wanting to buy it at one time. Before the demolition.
Not sure why it was necessary to demolish it. And as quickly as they did ?

13 years already! That's crazy! At least I got to go there a few times.

Agreed. The atmosphere now feels like Im at North Park mall watching a tennis match

The last handful of years yes but that was solely because they didn't want to invest money into something that was actively being replaced

Not only that let's be real where watching a football game not an equestrian event or a tennis Grand slam.

Ever stand in one of those tunnels on a below freezing day with a norther blowing? It could be brutal, just like a wind tunnel.

I wanna say it's office buildings and the like.. But again.. the whole area has been transformed. I would need to find the old site on a map then point my GPS at it to truly know where it is/was.
Look where highways 183 and 114 and loop 12 from a triangle. In the middle of there.
I live about 11 miles from there. Almost went out that way today. But would not have driven that far.

as of now google maps satellite image shows dirt and construction type stuff still, depending on how old it is.
Last August was the last time I was out that way. It was as that map shows.
