He looked sketchy in the preseason with a lot of mistakes and then had more mistakes in those 2 games he played when Leary got injured. The physical ability to be really good showed up in the preseason but I didn't think his learning curve was on track to be this far along in his development by week 8.

yea, this was even before we signed him that stash was excited about the potential. so whatever it was he saw, he was right at least in this instance.

im just having a blast watching him blow stuff up and toss NFL players around like rag dolls.

Just wait until he actually gets a year of an NFL weight training under his belt. Like i said before, once he sharpens up some of the technical/mental aspects of that position, he's going to be scary good.

most of the major college's have weight/training programs are not much below the NFL. Physical maturity will play a bigger factor then that. And with everyone that comes at a different age. It is also how hard the player works.

Weren't we all excited about his potential even during the draft when we saw him falling. I suggested drafting him at some point because I didn't believe his agents claim that he would hold out and re-enter the draft or whatever it was he was telling teams.

I remember Arkin having the same flashes and then never putting it all together.

Arkin only flashed the quickness to get to the 2nd level but he never showed the power required to block DLinemen.

Sure wish Witten would have made that block!

That's what I was thinking too. That play looked like it could have been a long gainer, but Witten whiffs on his block and then Smith is just running without anyone to block. If he but turns to see the oncoming defender, that play likely breaks for bigger yardage.

It seems on more than a few plays, we're one or two blocks away from springing a big gainer.

There is alother pass play where i saw the defender jump up to try and block the pass and Collins put hum on his back and the pounded on him while he was on the ground. I wish someone could find that one.

In college you are a student and you are limited as to the amount if interaction you're allowed with coaches.

Also once you get to the pro level and realize how good the guys you're going against are there is often increased motivation.

If anything physical maturation from an 18 year old kid to a 21 year old young man plays a bigger role than anything.

I'm excited about watching this guy work.

mebane was off balance, but that's not any less impressive.

Mebane is off balance because Collins is so quick and powerful, he could not regain his anchor. He's probably never been pushed that quickly up the field.

He had no shot.

Witten's nagging ailments are really effecting his play this year. Hasn't been very effective at all as a blocker. The major difference between this year and last year is that last year we got outstanding blocking on the perimeter to spring big runs.

Did he ever play in the regular season? i honestly dont remember.

He put his emoticon ":p" too far below the text in his post...he was being facetious. I almost missed it, too.

I purposely put it down a little ways just to prevent being too obvious. Sorry I put it down too far.
