They absolutely have a chance, I don’t count any game as “win” there are still guys on the other sideline who are prideful and want to do anything to hand the Cowboys a loss. Can you imagine how they would feel knocking Dallas from the 2 seed to the 5 seed and proving Dallas can’t win on the road? That’s some motivation, and it will not surprise me in the least if that happens. Heck knowing how this team and their luck this is probably how it will play out.

One thing not in our favor is the weather… supposed to be a coastal storm with rain snow and wind…. However I think it clears out Sunday morning. Still may not be ideal weather conditions.
Just checked the forrecast for Fed Ex Field Saturday - high 38 with a 65% chance of rain. Might blow out by game time but the field will still be wet and the air cold.

We'll see...

Anyone who’s being honest and isn’t stupid knows there’s a chance the Commanders could pull off an upset. The Cowboys have struggled on the road all season with all 5 of their losses coming on the road. They’ve struggled on the road in important games. They clearly haven’t been the same team on the road. They got their butts handed to them by Washington on the road in the season finale last year. The last time they played in less than ideal conditions on the road, Buffalo blew the Cowboys out. The Cowboys aren’t playing great right now. They haven’t been scoring as much and have been turning the ball over lately. With as mistake/penalty prone as the Cowboys are if they fall behind in this game they could end up in real trouble. This game is far from a slam dunk and anyone who knows the Cowboys and the NFL knows you can’t just mark this game down as a win.

McCarthy's conservative playcalling on the road will keep the Commanders in the game longer than they should be. And if the game is close heading into the 4th quarter, then anything can happen...and bad things tend to happen on the road for this team (penalties, mistakes, etc.). They have a hard time handling the crowd noise and such, mental misfits in some games.

Plus, Quinn may come out in the old bend-but-don't-break defense, not forcing the Commanders to pass...allowing chunk run yardage on 1st downs and quick short passes, which may give Washington the chance to move the ball all the way down the field...and then the Cowboys will be in TD-prevention mode in the Red Zone (which would be their win).

So, between McCarthy and Quinn, their lack of urgency early could and likely will keep Washington in the game.

I still don't trust this coaching staff to have a killer instinct early.

If the Cowboys defense is able to get an early turnover (punch out, stripped sack, or something), then the Cowboys may get rolling...otherwise, I expect a close game against this division rival, especially since it will be their Superbowl this season.

While I pick the Cowboys to win, I'm nervous that everybody and their dog are basically assuming that we've already secured the #2 NFC seed in the playoffs. No one has even suggested the Commanders have a chance in this game. I find that odd. After all, it's a road game, the Cowboys offense haven't looked great since the Eagles game. Of course I'm not suggesting the Cowboys shouldn't win, but I'm not seeing a blowout. I think the Commanders make it tough for most of the game. What say you?
A win would be the worst thing that they could do. They currently have the 2nd pick in the draft and could draft any qb they want or trade that pick for multiple picks. If they win they may drop out of the top 5.

Absolutely. If you understand the NFL you should know this.

I learned a long time ago that anything CAN happen in the NFL. Doesn’t mean it will happen.

Dallas should win this game going away. But again, it’s the NFL. Do I believe the Cowboys will win? Yes, absolutely. Do I believe it’s possible they lay an egg Sunday? Yes it’s possible. But I don’t think they will.

The most important mindset has nothing to do with us on these opinion boards. It is in the minds of those players and coaches.

Owners care about the draft, Ron Rivera doesn't, he'll be gone as soon as the season is over. ;)

And the players have to care about their own careers. Commanders' players are playing for pride, contract extensions, and roster spots. The players will be motivated, believe that.

And I worry that McCarthy and Quinn will come out "playing not to lose" against this division rival on the road, so then the game could be close well into the 2nd half...and then anything could happen when the game is close.

But, go Cowboys!

No matter how poorly/lucky the Eagles have been playing most of the year nobody saw this collapse happen. Nobody saw us losing to the Cards...this proves anything can happen, and MM should have his team ready to play a team who packed it in by trading their top DE's instead of building around them further
I saw it.

Any chance Cowboys lose at tanking Arizona earlier this year, any chance Philly loses to Arizona in week 17 with the 2nd seed control on the line? This is going to be Washington's SB, so yes there is a chance.

I didn't see it to be honest, but I am not in the least surprised. I actually thought it would be the Giants to knock them off, not have them lose at home against the Cards...but, with Kyler back this became a very real possibity. Not that we needed it, but more proof that on any given Sunday, no matter how awful the WFT is right now

It could very well be and we could also get blown out if things start going horribly wrong. No one thought a two TD underdog like AZ would beat the Cowboys by two TDs but it happened and we were on fire heading into that game. The two blowouts we’ve had on the road were assisted by defensive scores. Things went our way. It’s when things don’t go our way and we get behind that we end up in serious trouble. We don’t show a lot fight when we get down by two scores. We pretty much quit against Buffalo. All I know is we better hope the Cowboys get off to a good start on Sunday or we could be in for a real dogfight. The pressure will be on us with a division title at stake. Washington will be able to throw caution to the wind so we better hope the team is mentally and physically prepared.

This is Riveras last game. They will come out fighting and if we get punched in the mouth we better punch back. That's all I'm saying.

I thought there was a decent chance that Arizona would beat them. I liked the onside kick because it gave Arizona the time they needed to pull off the final drive. Great clock management.

Worried about the minutia when we all know how this time honored script ends.
