Any chance this is Romo's last year wearing the star?

If Dak sets the world on fire I would start getting curious as to how many draft picks we could get for him since we desperately need defense and there are a number of teams still without a starting QB, Broncos to name one

Why on earth would we trade the guy away when we desperately need a QB of the future once Tony retires? We might have gotten seriously lucky with a late round QB and you don't get lucky very often. Thank your luck stars and keep him.

Just throwing it out there, would like to get everyone's take on it. If Dak gets some regular season time and can perform to this level, I think he may take the job from Tony.
If Romo wants to return next year, Tony is stupid, vainglorious or delusional.

Romo will come back as soon as he's ready. If he gets another injury this season, then it is probably time to call it quits. He will not go out like this......

After we win the Super Bowl in February thus finalizing his ticket to Canton he will retire on top just like Manning did last year

Dak needs more time. I know he looks great, but it can easily change with such a young QB.

Even last year, Ryan Nassib looked MUCH better than Eli Manning in preseason games, and then this year he is God-Awful.

Not saying it's exactly the same, but you get the picture.

And, not to mention that we have him under contract for the next 4 years at essentially the league minimum. No rush whatsoever.

Sorry we got no other choice.

How many times does Romo need to get injured before we, and he, realizes it's time to call it quits? He has a life after football. Candice is probably in his ear now more than ever. It's time to seriously consider stepping away. A SB is just not in the cards for Tony and the Cowboys.....

Agree, but he will give it at least one more shot IMO. He is not going to retire without even starting the season. Too much of a competitor to quit right now. If doctors don't advise him to, he won't.

Oh I have no doubt that your are right. I doubt he'd even listen to doctors.....

Some are just going down with the ship. I wonder when they will finally admit that it's over. When Romo returns and gets hurt again? Are we going to have to go through the same thing next year? I'm getting too old for this.

I meant trade Tony not Dak, bad pronoun usage

You need to take some Prozac dude. Who is going to take a 36 yr. old QB with back problems and his contract.
This ain't Madden and Tony can't be traded. Now go back to your video games, geez!

This injury was not caused by being old, this was trauma and does not indicate long term issues, in six weeks this will be healed and good as before playing the Seahawks. It was a combination of bad angles while sliding along with the tackle. This is not a career ending injury and independent of his other back issues, although I never believed the cyst information. Six Weeks which works out to about five games to start the season. Looking at the schedule I think Bengals is too early and Packers game Oct 16th is realistic and is fully mended, IMO I would wait until after the bye and make the first game against the Eagles Oct 30th Sunday night.

.@tonyromo L1 vertebral body compression fracture: Bad news: out minimum 6wks Good news: no surgery, heals well, no long term issues. If @tonyromo wants to play, this injury will NOT end his career. No medical indication for forced retirement.

Love romo with a passion! Easily my 2nd favorite cowboy ever behind primetime. It's time to think about his kids. He has money but whats that worth if he cant enjoy the best free thing in his life (kids). He's romo though nobody in the NFL has more heart than him! If he can take a shot and play you can bet your life romo will be starting week 1!!!

Thinking of him going out like this almost brings me to tears.

If Dak looks good Tony will never see the field again with this team.

They took Peyton manning and are left with Sanchez and a 7th rounder rookie, you really think they wouldn't jump if Romo became available? They have nothing at QB and a championship defense.

Manning was still a great QB when Denver went out and got him. I don't think they would have traded for the Manning of last year.

Romo is quite a bit better than the Manning of last year with another year or three left, probably.
