Any chance this is Romo's last year wearing the star?

Romo is quite a bit better than the Manning of last year with another year or three left, probably.
Nobody knows that. He could only play 90 seconds in an exhibition game. This will be the second straight year that he's going to miss significant time. Thinking he has 3 years left is just wishful thinking. Aikman thought he could still play too. That's why the Cowboys had to cut him. Sooner or later it's over.

And Manning was coming off a potentially career ending injury when the Broncos signed him for big money.

I'm just sayin I think there would be teams lined up to trade for him, probably with a new contract but he'd be coveted
I'm sure there would be teams. I'm not sure they would trade for him though...probably wait for him to be cut. I don't think the Cowboys cut him unless he gets injured again and misses even more time.

They took Peyton manning and are left with Sanchez and a 7th rounder rookie, you really think they wouldn't jump if Romo became available? They have nothing at QB and a championship defense.
Peyton was a free agent. The situations are in no way similar.

Again, Peyton was a free agent. Is Romo was too, yeah, he'd have no issue landing on a team. Instead, he's an old QB with a monster remaining contract and an injury history.

You can't trade an injured player in the NFL according to the rules. Denver would have to take Romo's entire contract remaining. All of his signing bonus
would immediately accelerate into this year's cap I believe. Ain't happening.

Wasn't talking about trading him right away, if Dak lights it on fire, next offseason.....I think you could get something for him and work out contract details

Dak is a wonderful prospect, but Tony is a great QB. The only way Dak starts in the next few years is if Tony goes down, IMO.

If Romo can't be depended on to stay healthy the possibility of moving on from him is there if Dak performs well in his absence. With all the games Romo missed last season and the possibility he could miss half this season that's certainly not going to improve his game and give the team confidence going forward with him. Usually when you see an aging QB missing games year after year with injuries that's usually the beginning of the end for them. This is the 3rd different back injury Romo has had since 2013, the clock is ticking on him.

I think if Romo is healthy he is the starter question is how long does he stay healthy.

Dak won't beat Romo out as starter unless Romo can't play cause of injury

What's concerning and makes you wonder how much longer Romo has is the team has been resting him in camp the past few seasons, taking every precaution to keep him healthy and he couldn't even last a few series in preseason. The clock is clearly ticking on him and if Dak were to perform exceptionally well in his absence and we were make the playoffs, Romo could be still wearing a star next season but sporting it on the bench. It sounds crazy to say that but If Dak were to somehow look as impressive during the regular season as he has in preseason you almost have to stay with him over an aging QB who can't stay healthy and has missed a number of games the past 2 seasons.

Sadly I'm afraid the ride might be over. I don't know if Romo will play another year. I'm honestly not even sold he will play again this year for the Cowboys.

If so it's been a hell of a great ride that I've enjoyed.

My take is that it would take a lot of "soul searching" for Jerry & Stephen to pull the trigger on that endeavor. If Romo comes back and can play, Jerry
is going to try & get that SB for Romo you can be sure.

They love Romo so much that Prescott could lead them to the playoffs and he'd get the bench for a healed up Romo.

You are right...It's Jerry's team and his dime and he can spin it any way he chooses. You know that by now, right?

Just because he is entitled to make the decisions he does fails to make them valid. You know that by now as well, right?

You do know that when you own the team, everything you do is valid if the enterprise is sound and making money. The NFL is, as you know, a business.
Jerry is very successful whether he wins or not.

don't know, we'll see...

if he suffers another major injury, salary cap or what fans think has nothing to do with his decision...
if he can stay upright after his recovery... than he'll be around...
If 4 performs really well he'll be on the sideline...
If 4 performs average or poorly... he'll be back on the field

The possibilities will be rooted in the realities of the season.

Sorry fan opinions....
