Any news on Spencer?

Meanwhile at Cowboys practice....

Bryan Broaddus: The coaches have to be pleased in what they have seen from Anthony Hitchens but on the flip side, DeVonte Holloman has yet to show that type of player we all thought he was. Rolando McClain has worked his way back on the practice field and was able to make some nice sideline-to-sideline plays. The coaches are starting to use Bruce Carter in some rush situations with his hand on the ground in the one-on-one. This was something I had heard that the coaches were interested in the off season in trying to do. Justin Durant continues to hold the job at Mike but overall this group in my opinion is still unsettled.

Nice blurb on Hitchens. Hope he gets better.

Re: pressure from the WIL...this was what we were preparing for back when we were targeting Shazier. It'll be interesting to see how the defense really looks when we have our secondary in and start trying to generate some pressure outside of the DL.

And developing secondary roles is something that just doesn't start out early on in a practice setting. The team seems to first desire a player to demonstrate a strength and base level of fight to be part of a team.

Pointing out spelling errors on a fan forum is...just lazy!

Not when the poster is bagging on me about my education level. You're reaching, sometimes someones just gets the best of you, when that happens just take the L. I don't care what you say, that video is on point in the the case of CC.

What are you talking about! Don't you know that the team should be at it's best right now! Practice, who needs any freaking practice to clean things up, develop some chemistry, learn all the playbook, get into football shape, find the starting 53, and actually develop a game plan to win a war?

I don't know about you, but this football team stinks! Did you watch the scrubs playing during the first preseason game?

At least Romo did not throw an INT...or did he? I need go go out for some PT before I really get mad at you!

lol That is just the way he writes, dude! If you have a problem deciphering what he says....maybe you are uneducated?
I have to read some of his stuff two times, but, it makes sense to me.

Why the insult? Dude, 75% of the people on this board can't understand him. His typical post reads like "yada yada yada burn barrel yada yada yada".

What can I say? Guilty as charged...I'm still a ******* dogface. (dumbarse):)

lol...Bro, I can read posts on this forum that are written in perfect English, no misspelled words, and guess what?

yada yada yada...

then why would he sign a low contract with the Cowboys?

Why would he sign? Because, nobody else in the NFL would touch a player that had a microfracture surgery. The surgeon on Spencer created small tiny fractures in the subchondral bone plate. Then blood and bone marrow seep out of the fractures, creating a blood clot that releases cartilage-building cells. The microfractures are treated as an injury by the body, which is why the surgery results in new, replacement cartilage. Most athletes never recover. He should focus on the future and not football.

Just don't hold your breath until then...and actually root when he does good.
oh I will - he was my draft pick the year he was drafted

just don't think his heart is in it

Sorry but you are full of crap. 6 sacks is the old standard before the NFL went pass crazy. Now that is average at best for what you need if you want a really good D.

From a strongside OLB that is well above average and his run play was excellent as well. The Seahawks brought nothing but pressure last season and they didn't have any double digit sack guys. 6 sacks from the weak side of the defense is bad. From a strongside OLB it is plenty fine.

Any news on this guy? It's ridiculous how long he's been injured. The cat missed all of last year and looks like he'll miss this one.

He's still listed in today's Dallas Morning News as out indefinitely.

Here's another quote from Spencer re: his target return date, for whoever was looking for it earlier. Sounds to me like he wants to be on the field as soon as possible (for obvious financial and personal reasons). But from where we're at, I think we're probably looking at PUP at this point.

“I’m not sure, it’s a hard thing to say, I’ve never had this type of injury before and they’re really taking their time with me,” Spencer said. “I’m responding well and we’re really hopeful I’m back for the first game (against San Francisco). I really don’t want to be put on PUP, so by the time that first game comes around, we’ll have to make a decision and I hope it’s the right one.”

I would let him practice to see how is leg holds up. Of course they can do that after the preseason and even after the first game. The latter way they aren't on the hook for all his salary this year. But I don't know his cap figures so it may not matter.
