Troy has earned the right to say whatever he feels like saying ...... He gave us 3 superbowl rings ...... and compared to the teams he was the leader of this current team is horrible.

I have no problem with him having a higher standard for the boys than he does a crap team like the Commanders. ;)

When we start to win and look like a strong playoff team I think Aikman will have more good things to say about this team. Kinda hard to say that many good things about a team that has been 15-17 the last 2 years.

I can't stand to listen to Aikman, Irvin or Smith. I wish all three would keep their pie hole shut!

Looks like a good thread to put down my 1000th post.

Aikman is as good as a broadcaster as you can find. I promise when the Cowboys give Aikman a reason to praise them he will.

He played his entire career in Dallas. Won 3 Superbowls with Dallas. Will go to the HOF as a Cowboy. Lives in Dallas. Owns a car dealership in Dallas. Yeah, I dont think he like the Cowboys anymore...

Alright Hos, you are on notice. Only 22077 more posts by me and I will begin to leave you in the dust!:D

I have not really seen Emmitt on NFL network so I can not comment. I happen to like Irvin, but I can certainly understand someone not likeing him.

I do not understand the dislike for Aikman though. Not knocking you, I just dont get it. To each his own, I understand that. However, Troy Aikman is widely considered one of the best in the biz.

gbrittain, Henson's NFLE experience thus far giving you any confidence about his future? a smidgen at least?

btw, don't take this as me saying it's a tell-tale sign of his future NFL career

Most definitely summer...most definitely. I have not actually ever been really down on Henson. I have been more down on what was my feeling that the front office had given up on him.

I watched a good bit of his game today and he looked very good. I know it is NFLE, but the throws and mobility can not be faked. It was the real deal. So yeah, I hope BP and JJ are getting the same vibe about him as well.

Actually, when this team started 5-1 in 2003, Troy was definitely on the bandwagon. He had plenty of positive things to say about the team and about Bill Parcells.

I just think Troy is a very honest commentator. He may go out of his way to be critical in some circumstances, much like a father coaching his son's team might do, just to prove that he's impartial. But I have no doubt in my mind that he's pulling for the team, and I am sure that he's quite pleased that he'll be doing a good number of Cowboys games this year.

like I told you many times before, which is pointless to tell you now, but I will anyways ;) , that it's all in the plan :) and I'm even suprised at how well Henson seems to be doing over there

My biggest contention has always been that what Henson needs the most is to knock of the dust. I never thought that he would ever get a chance to do that.

Sitting on the bench is not what is going to make him better. Playing is going to make him better. I know there are different philosophies out there, so I do not want to debate the merits of the two. I will say though that I am a believer in playing the game to get better. I dont care if it is a blowout or whatever the case may be, he needs to get into real NFL games IMO.

I get what you're saying, and I'm of the same philosophy, you're only going to get better by playing, but the problem was, Henson wasn't ready to play, he wasn't even ready to go to NFLE for 2 years because his mechanics, and the nuances of playing the position in the NFL, had to be worked on, maybe after this spring and another year behind Bledsoe will do the trick...

The fact of the matter is, he does say positive things when it warrants it. The problem with some of these whiners is that, they want him to be positive about most things cowboys, just because he is former cowboys player.

What these guys never hear is, the negative things that Irvin or Moose say. But they don't say it the way Troy says. I heard troy say plenty of times he liked the last year draft and the character players they have. And he was high on Cowboys last year, till they started falling apart.

But I guess he needs to say Cowboys will be great/good no matter how bad he thinks they are. If not he is hater

Watch the first Cowboy Eagles game again and then you won't be so confident. I hardly consider what we are discussing here as whining. While some might take it overboard with he is out to get the Cowboys it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out he is overly critical. While that may extend even beyond the Cowboys which I am sure it does it will only be obvious to us when he announces our games won't it? So is it so hard to understand why some may feel he is attacking the Cowboys?

I agree. The people that dont like Aikman as a commentator are folks that want the Cowboys continously praised 365 days a year.

Absurd comment of the day.

I met Troy at a celebrity golf tournament in Florida and he was paired up with Dan Marino. This was about 4 years ago. After they were done playing, Marino get's outta the golf cart, comes over to the fence, and starts signing autographs for everyone, and I mean EVERYONE (while Troy drives away.) ! Great guy, he's probably still there signing. Anyways, I asked Dan where I could meet Troy, he said he'll be by the clubhouse. So I went there, caught Troy, asked him to sign this poster for my nephew and he reluctantly agreed. I asked him if he could make it out to Chris, and he was like, "I don't personalize anything." Right there I realized what a P.O.S he is !!

If you guys want to know who a real sports announcer is look no further than Brad Sham.

While every announcer has the right to be critical Aikman needs to learn how to do it because it comes off wrong.

Give me a break. At least he was willing to sign something for free. That is more than most pro athletes would have done.

I've had this discussion with Hostile on this before...I don't mind Aikman's critisism...I just find that his color analysis lacks....color...very boring and he rarely gives you something where you can say I did not know that...Now Hos, said that it really isn't his job to cater to the hardcore fans but to the casual fans and if that is the case then I have no problem with the guy

I think Aikmen is 90% right a lot of the time, the guy really tries not to be a "homer" but he can be just point blank blunt about certain things which can be good if you're thick skinned.

I kinda like Aikman in the booth. It's obvious to anyone with a brain, that he's a little more rough on the Cowboys because he doesn't want to look like a homer. Kinda like what your dad was like when he coached your little league team, ya know? He didn't want to look like he was playing favorites.

I'm surprised with the skins fans in this topic... Fairly objective and intelligent. Good job BBGun and Santana...
