No arguement that Troy is tougher on Dallas then any other team for obvious reasons. He no way wants to become a joke like Theisman is. I actually think that 2003 is what made him be more skeptical- we were no where near as good as our record was and that became obvious later in the season. Troy was very complimentary early on and when it was clear it was all smoke and mirrors I would not be suprised that he caught a lot of heat about that. So now he is being a lot tougher untill we prove that we are a playoff caliber team for real. In other words- THIS year.

Perhaps there's some harsh feelings still left over from the way he was basically forced into retirement? Things that happen at the "end" which are out of peoples control are always the things that eat at us the most. Anyway i don't really care, he's a good announcer when he's not broadcasting a Cowboy game. Basically the only announcer I even care to watch if the Cowboys aren't playing.

He'd better watch out for that Joe Buck though. I see how his eyes seem to always be gazing in unproper places- am I the only one that's picked up on this? I mean, TO, is on the prowl in big D, Troy better watch it, lol.

He actually owns a huge autoplex kinda thing. Chevy, Ford, Chrysler, Dodge...

My dad's in the car business and has been to his dealerships many times.

"Actually", Troy was part owner of the Troy Aikman Auto Mall in Fort Worth, Texas. It had its grand opening in April of 1996. The dealership was highly successful and experienced tremendous growth. However, Troy was not able to devote any time to it, and sold his interest near the beginning of 2001. He just recently opened Troy Aikman Ford.

Now that he no longer throws passes for my favorite team, he just plain bothers me nowadays.

Am I alone here?

He just seems like a know-it-all who goes out of his way to criticise Dallas these days.

I agree with you 100%. Me and my boys always talk about how he goes out of his way to knock the BOYZ...

I've met Troy in person, did a long phone interview with him and found him to be very down-to-earth, solid, all-around good guy.

I can't say that for some of the other goof-offs I've dealt with who played for Dallas.

Troy isn't for everybody.

He's very meticulous, detailed-oriented and a perfectionist.

He sometimes comes across as pessimistic and somewhat melancholy. He's not an over-enthusiastic, jovial type.

Reminds me of that line by Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp in Tombstone where Josephine (Dana Delaney) asks Earp if he ever laughs or smiles, and he replies sure, but he doesn't go around grinning "like an idiot."

I really like the guy.

I think a lot of folks need to toughen up. It isn't like he's ruining the team's reputation nationally and turning legions of fans against us. He's honest instead of completely gushing syrup.

Boo friggin' hoo.

If you guys want to know who a real sports announcer is look no further than Brad Sham.

While every announcer has the right to be critical Aikman needs to learn how to do it because it comes off wrong.

Sham does play-by-play (mostly facts)

Aikman does color commentary (mostly opinion)

Two different jobs.

Buck is colorful Aikman is color blind :p. I think Aikman would be better at the facts than the opinions.

You're spot on Chief. I see Aikman about once every 2-3 mths either at a local restaurant, charity event, golf course or more recently at the Whole Foods on Preston Road. He's always cordial when spoken to, but certainly doesn't go out of his way to "work the room".

Less than 2 weeks ago, my wife was standing in the checkout line at WF talking to me on the cell. Aikman and his oldest daughter Q'd-up right behind her. She said that after she hung up, Troy's daughter engaged Julie in good-natured ribbing because Julie was wearing a T-shirt w/ her old high school logo on the back. Troy's daughter goes to a rival school, and she made sure to let Julie know her old school had lost a recent soccer tourny to her school.

She says Aikman was very pleasant as the two gals chatted, even interjecting a few "proud parent" type stories about how well his daughter was doing on the team.

For the record, there's a reason Aikman's part of the #1 broadcast team on FOX's NFL coverage, and it's not because he's a "hater".

My only complaint is when he does our games the other stuff is no big deal.

The two most obvious games were the 1st Philly and the Carolina game last year.

In the Carolina game Julius breaks away for a touchdown nothing is said.
In the Carolina game Bledsoe throws a bomb to Glenn and all Aikman can talk about is the pass interference call.
Ware lights it up and causes Jake to fumble and all he can talk about is the OL recovering the fumble.

This is after ripping Dallas all game long for Bledsoe being immobile, our T arent very good etc. Granted thats the truth but when a team makes a good play give them props.

You guys need to open your eyes and ears it is so obvious. You act as if we are just making this up or something or making some lame Nors comment or something.

I challenge you doubters to watch those two games again and deny it.

If you do your blind.

Yeah, OK, I guess he didn't ask Ware to be put on HOF instantly or Julius to go to Pro-bowl, he must have been bashing on them

I mean, I saw him say plenty of good things about Julius, Ware and Glenn etc. that way. But then I guess since he wasn't gushing on them as much as you like, he must have been hating on cowboys.

Are you referring to the games I mentioned or something else? You keep using the same tired HOF, Pro Bowl comments and I am not puffing up the players. I am talking about giving props on good plays.

No you would just rather spill opinion than rewatch the games.

Honesty. Some folks just have a hard time with it. Troy says what he means and means what he says. He'll give it to ya straight without the fluff. Gotta appreciate that. He doesn't over-analyze in the booth and gives fair and just opinions. If it's a skunk he's gonna say it's a skunk.
IMO, he's the best FOX has got.

Actually, now that he's not wearing that star anymore, I tend to like him more. I think he's one of Fox's best analysts, and I think the majority of football fans agree with me. He actually gives his unbiased opinion when doing the Commanders Cowboys games, maybe thats why he's pissing you off. You guys kind of looked like garbage in the one he did last year...and when was the last time dallas had a playoff win? I think he may have been the quarterback. Not much to be too enthusiastic about.

I hate to agree with a Commanders fan but in this case I do. I like the way Aikman is unbiased in his approach to the game unlike Theisemann and others. Even John Madden is biased for certain teams and players and not even for his own former team.

I don't mind it when Aikman criticizes the Cowboys for two reasons: 1. He is telling the truth. 2. He has earned the right as a former player and as a person who actually cares about what we do as a team.

I hate it when Joey-T or someone like him criticizes the Boys because he generally has no clue what he is talking about (that goes for pretty much anything he says on any subject). John Clayton, Pete Prisco, and their ilk are like that too, biased and clueless.

Since the retirement of Pat Summerall (or at least from the major games) Aikman has become my favorite announcer/analyst.

I think Troy does a very good job. He is not covering games for FOX as part of the #1 crew to sing the praises of the Cowboys he is there to give his opinion of what is taking place around the NFL or what is going on in a game from his point of view. I don't always agree with Troy but then I don't always agree with other former players covering the games as well I don't always agree with other Cowboys fans on the state of the game or the Cowboys organization.

I met Troy at a celebrity golf tournament in Florida and he was paired up with Dan Marino. This was about 4 years ago. After they were done playing, Marino get's outta the golf cart, comes over to the fence, and starts signing autographs for everyone, and I mean EVERYONE (while Troy drives away.) ! Great guy, he's probably still there signing. Anyways, I asked Dan where I could meet Troy, he said he'll be by the clubhouse. So I went there, caught Troy, asked him to sign this poster for my nephew and he reluctantly agreed. I asked him if he could make it out to Chris, and he was like, "I don't personalize anything." Right there I realized what a P.O.S he is !!

That Bastid !! Ok that settles it for me, lets lynch him.

Yeah I agree. I think he has pretty much closed the door to his Cowboys Career and is ALL OUT going for the broadcasting career. You have to admire him wanting to be very good if not excellent at the next thing(broadcasting). He wants to make it perfectly clear that he will objective in all matters of broadcasting.
