Anyone Else Not Watching Sunday's Game Because of Christmas Eve?

Never in the world would I watch a game on Christmas eve. But that's because around here Santa comes on Christmas Eve and not during the night. So the main thing for the kids happens on December 24th, not the next morning. On December 25th we usually visit family and are being visited and have some great food (turkey etc) together.

So all in all the TV stays off during these days. Will watch a replay of the game some time later though.

nflreplay.net is your friend. :)

It sounds as if he can only do one thing at a time though. In other words, he understands what is truly important & what has to be sacrificed. And I did tell him there were ways to see it after the fact .... IF it's worth watching.

I don't think he was really looking for advice. Just wondering if anyone else shared his situation.
yes exactly - just curious how others were approaching as well. Faith and family, the magic of the day are things that I can't get back with a 3,7,9 year old....there are always more games but I wanted to see how others were approaching.

Well you are a fake fan who hates Dak Prescott and trolls this forum and roots for the Eagles!

Now that I got that out of the way, I feel your pain. I am fortunate enough to be able to watch this up and coming Cowboys vs Miami game and for the most part I usually try and work my schedule around the Cowboy games.
It always doesn't work out though. I remember in 1992 when the Cowboys played the 49ers in the Championship at Candlestick park, I had to go to my aunt and uncle's 50 Anniversary party and I missed the entire game. I taped it on an old VCR but watching the game on VCR after the fact, especially after knowing what the finale score was just not the same. If you can some how watch the game on your DVR and not know the results prior and during the game than you should be good to go.
I am in the same situation every Thanksgiving. Family first then football later. The VCR fiascos were comical either the tape wasn't rewinded enough to fit the whole game on it or someone decided it needed to be turned off to save pennies and it didn't record the game. Or I screwed up the record/end times. Or someone told me the score. Bummer all of it. Good times indeed.

I can only recall us playing on Xmas eve once, at New Orleans
I remember that. It was on Friday. I had to do my Christmas shopping and was listening on the radio trying to get home for the second half. I didn't make it and we lost anyways.

I have personally ruined holidays with my family in order to be the selfish Cowboys fan, I never miss a game and my family hates me for not bringing over the turkey because I decided last minute not to, hell no.

If you're a diehard fan, and you're in a relationship where your significant other has you missing Cowboys games, GET OUT!!!!

It's not about "well family's most important!"

It's about you being deprived of your passion by someone who's supposed to care about making you happy.

Not specifically directing this at the OP.
I agree with you for once.

How many of you are not watching the game this Sunday at 4est due to xmas eve plans? I know with my family, we will go to early mass and then out to dinner so I will absolutely miss all of it. I have spectrum streaming so can't even record to watch and when we get home from dinner have magic family time with the 3,7,9 year olds....needless to say, I am going to have to bypass this week due to scheduling.

Hopefully they get the win but curious how many of you are in the same predicament I am in and what you are doing to be able to watch later without knowing how it unfolded?

(PS this thread is not about not watching bc I don't want to or bc trying to make some dumb statement, so lets not make it about that please)
***lip. We watch it on Thanksgiving. Who cares about a fat old man breaking and entering through the chimney when most fireplaces are gas burning or decorative.

I missed last week's game to watch my daughter star in "The Nutcracker" for the Oakland Ballet Company. Christmas comes every year, the Cowboys play 20 times a year.. my daughter's first principal role as a professional will only happen once. I would have skipped the Super Bowl for that. In terms of recording though.. I strongly suggest you get yourself an Amazon Firestick and an HDMI capture stick, plug them both into your computer and record the game there. Then at least you can go watch it a little later. Oh and my daughter was absolutely amazing in her performance by the way.. I damn near cried!!
Old softy. Me too and I totally understand. Way to go Dad!!!! She is in you, and you are in her.

All my kids are grown and all over the country. You can video in real time using your smart phone laptop or desktop if you have the app. Beats getting stranded at airports or contending with the savages on the road.

The family ( around 50 in total) will be celebrating at the farm I am sure the game will be on in the background somewhere but you bet the focus will be the family activities.
May the Lord bless all of you
