It doesn't.....Good analysis here...and I’m not saying taking Chase is my preference I just think it warrants some discussion.
I think there’s a chance Sewell and Parsons could be gone when we pick and if there isn’t a trade down partner I just don’t know how comfortable I am reaching on the next top defender over Chase.
The more I think about the possibility of selecting Chase with our top selection the more I'm warming up to it. I totally understand the defense is the main problem but unfortunately the top end of this draft is really weak in defenders outside of Parsons.
Chase would give us a young, elite pair of WRs for the future and would give us financial flex to not have to extend Gallup.
Having Lamb and Chase on rookie deals would hopefully allow us to use that money saved and attack FA defenders.
Thoughts?
These people are higher than Giraffe......@rocyaice remember what I said about people hating Jerry but think just like him? Multiple people seriously would draft Chase.
Weren't you bashing me for saying we need to sign Amari over Byron?
Amari is overpaid, and yes he's had crap QB's but he is not worth the contract. I just can't wait until the end of next year so we can let him walk and invest that money eslewhere.
Zeke
Jaylon
Cooper
In the next 2 years will all be gone!
By all that's holy, another WR? By all means, if super bowl contention is not in your plans. What's round 2, an injured LB, a druggie pass rusher, or a slow TE?

Gallup is a FA after next season.:.and will likely warrant 6-8 million to resign. His contract is wrapping up sooner than most think.
I’d prefer to draft Chase with the intent of letting Gallup walk but if we could trade Cooper I’m open to that as well.
You keep on drafting these high WR's, you are going to eventually have to pay them. Much rather resign a receiver to that 6-8 range, then 20.
Ruggs is the Raiders most important receiver because of what he opens up for them. If you can draft a guy who makes other players on offense better as well, he's worth more than his own production. It's similar to Cooper/Zeke when he arrived. But Waddle's a better prospect than Ruggs and is more complete, he can be a #1.I don’t think you have to move Coop but I’d be open to it. Chase may not be a top 5 talent in every draft but I think he’s on of the best 5/7 players this year and is clear WR1.
I like Waddle, but not in the top 20. If I’m taking a WR this early I want to feel like he can be a 1. Like Ruggs this past year, I think Waddle will be a complimentary WR at the next level and I don’t like the idea of drafting a smallish, complimentary WR that early.
Waddle is hurt now and Ruggs has already been hurt this year so there’s some durability concerns.

Waddle's injury was a fluke, like Dak's.
Yes, but you have to squeeze some defenders out of Gallup and Cooper trades IMO. Gallup in 2021 and Cooper in 2022.The more I think about the possibility of selecting Chase with our top selection the more I'm warming up to it. You are also absolutely correct in having 2 elite young WR's on rookie deals. Very strong position to be in. However I do feel it would be very important to make deals with Gallup and Cooper
Lol. These $6-8m guys don't exist unless they are 30+ or just not very good. The floor for a good top-2 WR who isn't on a rookie deal is $10m.You keep on drafting these high WR's, you are going to eventually have to pay them. Much rather resign a receiver to that 6-8 range, then 20.
Maybe in drafts of the past but he’s definitely top 5 this one.W... What?
I'm in agreement that Pitts is a formative offensive talent, but even even has no place in the top-5.
Agree, is closer to the 10 million range.Lol. These $6-8m guys don't exist unless they are 30+ or just not very good. The floor for a good top-2 WR who isn't on a rookie deal is $10m.
