Anyone miss Zeke?

So you think no team had a guy who was really good at getting short yardage in tough situations?
There's nobody that pays an NFL salary to a player just to get short yardage. That's absurd. If your feature back cannot get those short yards then you get a new RB who can. You don't keep a failed feature back and then acquire another just to pick up 2 yard plays. That is a waste of a roster spot and incompetence from the GM.

Derrick Henry started his career splitting carries with Murray. Since then he has 3 1,000 yard seasons and 1 2,000 yard season. 2 of those 1,000 yard seasons was 1,500+. The one season between those that he didn't top 1,000 yards he had 900 yards through 8 games before injury.

And it's not about total yards, it's about how Henry goes about getting those yards. It's memorable. There was nothing defining about Zeke's game. He was a well-rounded RB for a time but steadily declined after his 2017 season. He lost that second gear that separated him from the pack and became a good but not great RB.

Simple fact is, if Henry has a couple more big seasons he's probably going to be a HOF candidate. Zeke will MAYBE be a ROH guy for us in the future. As I made with another comparison, what we thought Zeke was going to be ended up being what we are seeing Nick Chubb do now.
Henry definitely developed into the better player. At their peaks, I don't think there was a wide gap between them, but clearly enough that taking him in the second would have been better than taking Elliott in the first. I was kind of hoping for the Ramsey-Henry double that year myself. But I have no complaints. We got some good years out of Elliott. I save my complaints for first-round busts like Taco Charlton.

Getting an all-pro corner, RB, and QB in one draft could have been the difference between a first round exit in the playoffs and being in a Super Bowl. Let's not forget, Jags got to a championship game in 2017 and Ramsey's play that year was a huge part of that.

And while some we say it's worth it simply because we got Prescott, the 2016 draft just felt like a big missed opportunity to me.

Pollard looked good and explosive.

Dowdle looked decent.

But man I'm so glad Zeke is off this team.

And Zeke still screwed us by fumbling in the Eagles game earlier today. Patriots almost had them.

I'm not going to lie, I believe Zeke would flourish a little better in this offense, especially the short yardage plays.

McCarthy would understand how to use Zeke, Moore wasn't intelligent enough to know how to use Zeke's skillset and wasted his prime years.

For some reason there are fans who enjoy bashing ex-players. I have no ill will. He was released on good terms. I wish him well.
I don’t either but there’s a fringe element of Zeke fans that crap on Pollard to prop up Zeke. I have zero issues taking the piss out of them; they know who they are.

A $16 million dollar a year running back should flourish in any offense.

Problem is he was washed up 2 years ago.

That's why he's a RB2 on another team.

I don't think it would have because of the Garrett factor. I do not underestimate his ability to coach down to his opponent's level. I think we've had teams that other coaches could have at least gotten to a championship game in the years that he was here.

Probably so. We appear to have some who are bigger fans of particular players than the Star on their helmets . And they bring their agendas with them.

Elliott's time in Dallas top of mind over Schuitz.

Week 1 Texans @ Ravens (9 - 25 defeat)
Schultz__did not start; 62 snaps on offense -- 81%
targeted 4 times, 2 catches for 4 yards.
Limited in practice Wednesday - thigh; questionable status for Texans' home opener Sunday v. Colts.
Nothing negative about this at all.

Agree.

It’s good to see us using a FB.

Don’t miss seeing the runs out of the pistol 20+ times a game.

For 4 snaps at some point. Can anyone remember the results?

Sure didn't seem to impact Pollard's results last season. Tony's Yards-Per-Carry near the top of the league. PFF scores even higher.

Chargers ran for 240+ yards on Sunday. Their backs are forming a More-Moore Choir.

But I am incredibly curious...Your Zeke-Bitterness-Tour-Of-2023...how's that going for you, bro? Plan to take it international? Corporate sponsors are always sparse, but wishing you the best.
