Are Crayton's days as a Cowboy numbered?

He has had maybe two good games here. Im not fickle about it though, never liked the guy from the start, way too big of a mouth, seems to have fixed that here lately though, ill give him that...still, the sooner he is gone the better. New deal might make that difficult though.

Bledsoe to Brady
Julius Jones to Barber
Crayton to Miles Austin

nothing new here, it's the nature of the game.

on to the next subject.

Big enough. Why else is Barber still getting touches in a game where Tashard Choice was far and away playing better?

You don't pay people bunches of dollars to sit. The only way Crayton leaves is via trade.

And insightful and insult-free comments would largely be a better way to have a positive debate around here, but I think you're in over your head just a bit. I could be wrong!

I don't think pay has anything to do with the Barber situation. I just think the staff is too sackless to tell him "no".

As far as the OPs question. I hope not. He's still a very good slot guy. If Austin can produce regularly, Crayton should be able to put up good numbers from the slot.

I don't see Crayton being cut anytime soon, but I also think the Cowboys will draft a wr or two in next years draft. The wr corp as a whole needs to be overhauled next year. After Williams, Austin, Crayton, and Ogletree, hopefully there will be some new wr talent to work in that wr mix next year.

I think he would be a pretty good #3 receiver, but I don't like how much he talks.

But I wouldn't mind at all if we kept him.

Crayton is needed on this team. It is hard to talk about the lack of depth and then get rid of everyone who is a contributor but not spectacular.

Spoken like someone who pays too much attention to fantasy football and too little attention to what happens on the field

Hmm...I think you are right.

:laugh2:

Crayton is a good possession WR and Romo clicks with him, so why cut him? he's not that expensive. The only draw back is that he doesn't contribute any speed to the WR corps, and this team needs at least one more downfield threat if Roy Williams doesn't start fighting for the deep ball like Austin does.

Folks here are just fickle. After game 1 people were in love with him.

:hammer:

I think some people haven't forgiven him for the Giants Playoff Game.

However, the guy is a solid player and has proven he can contribute.

Personally, I wouldn't mind scaling back the two-tight end set and going with more 3-Wide Receiver Sets, with Crayton, Williams and Austin.

Folks also seem to blame him for being a crap punt returner. He is what he is at that and he is usually sure handed. I think this was the FIRST punt he's lost. We've tried to replace him in that role for several years. Yet we can't seem to find anyone any better. That's all about the GM, not about him.

1 of the best #3 wr's in the league... 1 of the bottom #2 wr's... cmon guys you're better than this... Roy Williams as the big target, Austin as the speedy #2 and crayton in the slot... it's pretty simple

I would get rid of Roy first. Crayton runs better routes and has better hands. Roy is a waste of talent.

Yeah, I don't remember him fumbling any punts in the past.

I think people get very disgusted at seeing him fair catch all the time, hence the nickname.

But as you stated, he is what he is and at some point, you the onus is on the GM to find a more suitable person at that position.

Also, if you trot out Roy Williams, Miles Austin and some other guy, these are all people Tony Romo hasn't played alot of games with and could affect the passing game.

It is very obvious that Tony Romo trusts Patrick Crayton.

Besides, Crayton has been pretty good for a guy that was drafted in the 7th Round and on teams guys like Jason Witten, Terrell Owens, Roy Williams and Marion Barber.

Crayton is at his best at the slot position. Why would his days be numbered? He is playing the position he plays best.
Agreed, he's normally sure handed, which is a great thing in a 3rd down/clutch slot WR. Plus, despite his sometimes annoying comments, he does bring some leadership to the WR corp. I'd rather axe Hurd than Crayton.

I am almost positive you will hear more of this as the season plays out.

I suspect we will look back on the Roy Williams' trade as nothing short of a waste.

I hope I am wrong.

Crayton is a decent #3 or #4 WR. No need to cut him. Just don't start him.

It was definitely a waste based on what we gave up for him.

Also, one thing that has puzzled me is when we run all those reverses we run with Patrick Crayton, why weren't we using Miles Austin instead?

I believe Hurd, Crayton, Williams and Austin should all get touches as I think each one of them are capable of making plays.

Part of me wants to think that Crayton is the return man because he can throw.

The other part of me doesn't think we will ever see it so why bother.
