Are fans ready to accept the Micah trade devasted our defense?

Unfortunately this era our owner has lowered the bar here in Cowboys Nation.

Championships are no longer the highest priority. In his own words “ hanging around the rim “ and “ remaining relevant” is the message from our dysfunctional ownership.

Regular season success and playoff appearances is basically all we are about now providing Jethro a product to hype and sell while he parades around like a football celebrity which is his ultimate passion.
Until they win again just like the Chiefs, Eagles, and Patriots. All of which went many years without a championship.

Well lets hope we don't draft anyone from Michigan again then.
We don't seem to be all that great at drafting DTs from anywhere. Not since Parcells, who nailed multiple starters in one draft and used up our DT capital, I guess.

I don’t really care what it makes you. But I’d always argue getting on base is better than striking out regardless if you can score or not.

I think most fans would be for meaningful games in December and part of January. Getting to the dance is always better than not .
I think I made it clear I don;t care what people think..."so be it" means..."whatever".

your key word "meaningful".

Cowboys have shown they can't beat average teams...let alone win "meaningful games".

Tampa playoff game gets an asterisk...we're not gonna see another 8-9 team in the playoffs....unless it's us. Other than that...tell us what we've done in these meaningful games...even when we're 12-4.

I'm not a "give up call it day" kinda guy. The Cowboys team...might be.

No one is saying resigning him fixes the defense.

Bottomline is does he make our defense enough to be more of a playoff contender and enough to build around .
Micah was not a good run defender. Last year, with Micah, Dallas was 31st in the league in rushing yards allowed. The chances of a team with that poor of a run defense getting in the playoffs is slim at best.

And even if they did make the playoffs, they're not winning the SB, which is the goal of the team (or should be). As far as building a team around him, since when has Jerry done that?

He hasn't. He doesn't know how....

I understand if we were actually in an official rebuild mode and Micah wasn’t in our plans as we planned on trading him to highest bidder during Free Agency that could have actually been a strategic plan. But that’s not what happened. We had every intention on resigning. We just couldn’t get a deal done . But I’m not here to argue out as that’s been exhausted over last couple months.

This thread is about what the impacts of losing Micah has meant to this defense . The fact we lost him a week before the season had to be devasting to a DC and schemes with other losses on defense in FA and injuries.

Where was our pass rush going to come from. We also lost Lawrence as a Cap Casualty. Our top two edge rushers gone .

And with our 2 CB’s not a 100% recovering from injuries we were leaving our secondary very vulnerable without a pass rush.

WTH were we thinking. We had to know it could be a disaster .
If I hadn’t watched the games I’d agree with you.

Losing Micah is not at the top of my list of defensive problems.

Hiring Eberflus is our #1 problem so far.

It’s hard to tell with all the loss of talent and injuries which is hurting us worse . But my hunch says the talent .

He drafted excellent DL
Canty, Hatcher, Ratliff; even spears was better then what we have now

I think you missed my definition of “ meaningful “ games.

If our season is basically over before Halloween as I suggested was a possibility then rest of season means no meaningful games left.

So as long as we are in playoff contention we have meaningful games.

To this Cowboys fan and most I know nothing worse than being out of playoff contention.

Jethro had years to build a defense around DeWare and failed
why anyone thought anything would change is beyond me

I can tell you what is worse:
Knowing we are out of SB contention

The goal of our owner isn’t winning championships. You’ve even admitted he doesn’t know how. So that’s off the table.

It’s amazing how some fans want to dismiss the talent level of Parsons. If he was so lame he wouldn’t have fetched 2 1st round picks at the drop of a hat with a week before season begun.

The Cowboys just haven't given me anything to look forward TO. Even decent 12-4 teams we fall on our face. I can't imagine how that's any different now...likely worse. Any probable scenario has us backing in from a rapidly falling apart NFCE.

I said it a few days ago and I'm sticking to it...just ONE...GAME...AT...A...TIME.

And for your OP....still not convinced Micah trade is what devasted our defense. I believe that's being done aside from Parsons. I believe he would be quite P'd at the state of things...tired, worn out, injured even.

Of course but that’s basically a given. Regardless, you can’t get there if don’t make the dance.
The beautiful girl (offense) ain't goin to no dance with the ugly boy (defense).

If only the rich dad (Jerry) could fix things.

I effectively stopped listening to the blame game after I heard that Jerry ran an end around the players agent and decided he wanted to do a handshake deal. Who the hell operates a multi-billion dollar franchise this way? Dude is out of his mind.
I wouldn't be able to trust Jerry, as a player, once he pulled that.
