Are our receivers the issue?

Niners usually play zone but against us they played cover 1 man most of the game. That pretty much told us they didnt fear our receivers. They basically said our cover guys are better than your receivers and you can't beat us .
That's why we need a route running fiend. A big dude at WR wouldn't hurt.

I think it is more how they use their receivers. CeeDee is a #1 receiver, but what does that mean? The 49ers kicked our butts Sunday and no receiver had more than 4 receptions on the night. But they spread the ball around and every receiver had 3 or 4 catches. The point is, it is a team game. The receivers operate as a unit. I think the problem is the scheme. You watch them run routes Sunday night and it looked like the 49ers DB knew where the receivers were going.

The way to attack the 49ers is down the field. The Rams had good success with the vertical passing game against the 49ers. That's because the 49ers like to take away the underneath stuff. They sit on receivers at the LOS and they play physical. But they are not great DBs. They can be beaten, which is what the Rams receivers did - without Cooper Kupp.

But more troublesome thing I saw Sunday night was the pass protection. Dak was getting hit almost every play. Steele really struggled with Bosa and he did not get much help. That was dumb. Knowing Bosa and Steele coming off an injury, I would have had someone to help block Bosa. But that wasn't the only problem on the OL. Honestly, I really thought the OL would negate teh 49ers from 7. I was very very wrong. They struggled all night and it disrupted the timing of the passing game.

Before the game started it was said the 49ers were going to make Dak beat them. So, the 9ers pretty much told us (literally) they didn't fear the QB.

The offensive system needs to fit the players, not the other way around.
TP can run inside, but he needs plays designed to get him in space.
Dowdle and Loepke need plays that allow them to use their power and grind.

The passing game doesn't need to fit just the QB's strengths or weaknesses; plays need to be designed and used to scheme people open and have them do what they do best. In my opinion, the only plays that have seemed to use a player for what he is is the way we've used Gallup for the past few years. Moore never seemed to scheme Cooper open when he was clearly the best and fastest of our receivers; he allowed teams to take him away and we would complain about his "disappearing." At the beginning of this season, I thought Lamb was finally going to get the star treatment as we saw him out wide, in the slot, in motion, in bunches using picks. Suddenly, we don't see any of that.

Every defense in the NFL that played KC in the past would have one goal....stop Tyreek Hill. Now, every defense has one goal....stop Kelsey. No defense can do it because he's the #1 guy in that passing offense, and even as a TE, Andy Reid puts him out wide, in tight, in the slot, in the backfield, in motion, in bunches, and designs plays to get him open or to get him mismatches. If you allow any defense to take away your best playmaker, you are not going to be very successful.

I think Jerry would admit the mistake if things got really bad.

Now, I don’t believe he would come out and say he was wrong, but I believe the changes on the team would be him admitting to mistakes.

Thats why living in mediocrity is bad. You’re never truly bad enough to have someone like Jerry drop you.
Mountain,
The craziest of all ironies would be this:
We all laughed at Jerry's 1st coach mistake of "Coach in Training" stepson Garrett.
Then we all poked fun at Jerry's personal "Next Sean McVay" no experience selection of Moore as his OC. Somewhat similar in the Garrett selection process.

But WHAT IF Moore does end up distinguishing himself as a future dominant offensive mind and head coaching career that Jerry Jones envisioned from the start?

Man oh Man,
This kinda irony could actually give Jerry's legacy as being a football man some actual credibility after all. Now that is just too funny.

It's too bad he kept the wrong coach.

I mean if youre referring to not having 6 All-Pro WR's to cover up for Dak's inadequacies then yes, the WR's are the problem

I think it’s the play design. For a team thats supposed to be a quick striking they sure are having Dak hold the ball for a while. And every time they are in shot gun it’s a pass play. Predictable. We need quick slants and some drag routes with these TE to get them the ball on the run. Use a 5 step drop or roll out.

Decision making and accuracy plus staring down receivers is what I saw watching the tape. The overthrow out of bounds he had guys open across the middle. It was the usual choke in a big game performance

No, but 2 things can be true at once. Dak is the issue, insofar as a roster problem. The real issue is the man in charge of the roster.

Ceedee is a fine player, but he's not a #1 in the sense that Diggs, Jefferson, Hill, and Chase are. Nor Cupp when he's healthy.
Ceedee had 100 receptions for 1300 yards and 9 touchdowns last year.

That’s #1 WR production.

Our receivers are struggling to separate, and Brandin Cooks has been a disappointment. They showed a linebacker staying with him on Sunday night. None of our receivers scare anyone. As for our TEs Ferguson has been pretty good, but he’s not the security blanket Dalton Schultz was, at least not yet. The biggest issue is our offense. It’s a lot of short passing that lacks explosiveness. We don’t make enough plays down the field.

CD is a very good WO who isn't quite the level of Jamar Chase and a few others. He doesn't hurt you in any shape or form. After that the WO picture is muddled. Cooks doesn't appear to bring you much, and Gallop seems to have a very limited route tree. You either need big WO's like the Chargers have, or you need lightning quick guys with speed like Miami. We don't have either in adequate numbers right now, and we don't have a dominate TE who can make up for marginal WO's.

Is what it is as they say. I will say having a very accurate QB makes up for a lot of WO's that have a small catch radius and we haven't had that type of QB since Romo broke down. PS. Our line is a shell of what it was 3 or 4 years ago. That can make up for a lot of problems either running or throwining.

It's amazing how some think that CeeDee, Gallup and Cooks all forgot how to play the position at the same time. The problem can be summed up between the scheme and the QB responsible for getting them the football. Let's start with scheme: The WCO (Texas Coast offense) is antiquated - defensive coordinators have figured out long ago how to stop this offense - and it is not compatible to the strengths of our WRs, primarily Cooks and Gallup. CeeDee remains our best receivable suited to getting open in this quick-pass scheme. Dak Prescott is also a huge part of the problem. Most of us recognize his past issues with accuracy and anticipation, but it feels that these fundamentals have only gotten worse under this new offense. Encompassing all of this is the genius of two idiots pretending to be GMs. The Jones problem in bringing in players is always based on the looks test. Look: Cooks has had 1,000-yard seasons with other teams in a role whereby he runs vertical routes and stretches the defense, so here's a good idea: Let's bring him in and see if he can excel in an offense that requires our QB to throw the ball in under three seconds.

Watch this and tell me CD is the problem. CD is an excellent route runner and knows how to get open repeatedly.

The problem is Dak's mediocre play / inaccuracy + MM's putrid offensive scheme.

Based on coverage they didn't fear the receivers either.

The NFL Open is different from the college open. dak needs college open with several yards of separation, and they are no way he can throw anyone open. he is what he is.

The taste only getting worse is what is needed.

If the taste gets better you can expect business as usual.
I realize that. But just like you with Dak, I was the President of the Fire JG club. And led the congregation on Jaylon was a bum.

It took forever for Jerry to finally realize it as well.
