We had a chance to start the rebuild of the OL last draft w/ Ocyrus in the 2nd. And for some reason, we chose instead to take a project at a position of strength. Oh, and BTW, Ocyrus is a complete stud for BUFF.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Whomever was responsible for drafting Schooner, Jaylon, Kelvin, Trysten, Sam Williams, and Randy Gregory should be fired immediately. 2nd round picks are a big part of what forms the core of your team. Continually making odd picks there has got to stop.

I saw this comparison too and already predicted Mike will be gone by game 8 of 2024. Similar reasons...the team is fractured IMO.

If JJ and SJ were regular NFL executives working for any other NFL franchise, at the very least, their jobs would be on the line; Jerry would have been fired a long time ago. And it would probably change how they do personnel moves.

The reason this is relevant is our two headed front office leaders don’t take the kind of chances that other guys who are on the accountability chopping block must take. So they play it safe because literally nothing is in the line for them. They are going to make billions win or lose and no one can say to them that they are fired for lack of results.

It’s incredibly frustrating watching other teams rebuild, retool, hire better coaches and make structural changes while we watch the Jones boys “run it back” year after year.

Good post. I agree this team is better than the 2009-10 version. I’m just dubious about the “run it back” philosophy after such an embarrassing playoff loss…again.
Dubious is right.

Dak is due to get hurt again. Be about right after a huge extension. That alone could tank the season unless someone off the bench takes us where we haven’t been in decades.

All true. Spot on as usual in this thread.

it takes too much effort for Jethro to rebuild. This 12 win playoff contender is an easy sell for him. Didnt even need a scapegoat.

But what some are missing is we haven’t built as good of team to go further . We are still stuck in the perpetual mediocre good but not great status.

And whether that’s all on our front office, coaching or weaknesses on roster and more likely a combination thereof we haven’t achieved much more with this staff and roster than the frustrations and disappointment from previous this era.

I don't think so. MM will no doubt have a bad year, but he will be the coach for all of it.
NFCE is looking to be soft. It would not surprise me if we went 6-0 in the Division and end up being 10-7 and hosting a wild card game.

well, one difference is that there isn't a Jason G. type on the staff working to sabotage the HC to get a promotion.

None of it really matters as long as Jerry is still around anyway.
It's understated what a dirt bag JG actually was.

I hope you are wrong, and after 3 consecutive 12-5 seasons and 3 playoff appearances I think we are better off now. But we cannot predict injuries. If any of our key players gets hurt and misses significant time I can see a real falloff in the season record. But those come from time to time. Every team gets them and it is no ones fault. I will say that at the end of Romo's careers he was very fragile. Getting tackled was a ticket to the IR.

We have a tough schedule compliments of the Eagles season ending collapse. Which for me, despite all the Cowboys fans' consternation, was far worse than what happened to Dallas. And on top of their collapse, their star Center retired, and I suspect he might not be alone.

In any case, the offseason has not really started yet, except for Jake Ferguson, and we will see what changes Jerry has in store. He promised accountability, when we see it we will know more what to expect in 2024.

Who said teams never change? and injuries never happen?

you must have if you think the schedule is set and all teams will stay the same.

there is no idea how our schedule will be right now, even a month before the start of the season.

to many changes in sports to even think of that.

Yes, but Jerry’s version of “accountability“ never includes himself or his giggling son. His version of accountability is always placed on people not making the major decisions. So in essence, we don’t have any true accountability.

its not part of the main plan, its not part of the culture.

the only job is make money, everything else comes after.

40 dollars is more important to him than winning the SB

Jethro’s only accountability is to public perception. And that’s stubbornly iffy at times.

But we saw how after decades he was swayed with Jimmy, finally. And he’s been swayed making changes with Garrett and Romo as well.

Public opinion usually has to get bad enough to sway him. On everything but himself of course.

This next draft/FA will tell the story. If we go in and make a pile of flashy picks that don't make sense, we'll know this is as far as we go.

Might be able to base it all on our 2nd round pick. What's up this time, a thug SS?
