Are we trying to pull off some sort of Moneyball?

I'm starting to wonder if we are trying to pull off some sort of "Moneyball" style form of team building were we are looking at certain metrics that the general public doesn't generally perceive as valuable to sign lower dollar FA and acquire players via trade.

I'm not saying that it is a positive or a good thing, but it certainly seems like they are targeting certain players who have an athletic profile over an NFL pedigree.

Our offseason seems to have a theme... from the coaching search/hire to the FA period, to the players we are adding...
how many times did money ball work?
no, they are just filling in the roster with JAGs....most of them will play like JAGs, one of them is going to play above his contract.
Jerry will claim that as a win and want all the credit for team building

You aren’t wrong but at least these jags are ex first rounders. Guys hungry for a big deal. So from that stance it’s a little different approach. Guys with nothing to lose.

results on the field will speak for itself. if I am wrong, we should see quite a bit of improvement.
if they suck then we know I was right.

you are being hopeful. I don't see anything different than before. former first rounders. hungry. perhaps they suck, like Lance!!!

They very well may suck. But to me I see more potential in a ex first rounder that’s 24 who may have been a bad scheme fit as opposed to a 30 year old who’s best years are behind them and just wants one last pay day. Let’s remember there’s no store where you can go to to get great players. This is free agency. Free agency isn’t a solution to your problems it’s just a band aid to cover your wound for the time being.

Cowboys issues are not something you can fix in free agency. Doesn’t mean you don’t try but in order to do wear needs to be don’t it starts with new leadership.

Moneyball didn't work in Oakland

Stop talking about moneyball.

People lie cheat steal murder for money.

Moneyball boils down to ripping others off.

Just stop talking about it.

"I'll lie, steal and kill you and your family over money, but don't do it to my family"

Notice how none of these large countries fight each other, they are stealing from the weak. It's pathetic.

Stop embracing theft.

I currently have no income and can't even sell my perfectly good truck for a fair price....it's have it stolen from me for a way low ball offer or nothing.

Yall promote that?

They have the ability if they can ever connect the dots upstairs. Hopefully one or two will.

Didn't watch the movie did you?
Don't have to...I know what the underlining theme is...even if the movie isn't exactly about contracts, but about on base percentage

I didn't watch, I would assume a undervalued Stat means the guys they acquired in the movie were probably cheap contracts since they weren't home run hitters.

It doesn't matter...it's the same thing...taking advantage

Your board is riddled with posters trying to devalue the player.

No it doesn't. Moneyball is about looking at stats that other teams may not be looking at.

The NFL's version of Moneyball is Bill Belichick using TEs and slot WRs and RBs as primary targets, as he could get topflight ones for much less money and later draft picks leaving more for D, which is what wins super bowls.

To be fair we have made enough depth moves where a few REAL moves would actually have us looking solid. Or as solid as we were going to look this year anyways

Yeah I will give them credit for coming up with a strategy that is kind of interesting (getting first rounders who haven’t been total busts but have underperformed to expectations)

I kind of doubt it works but maybe they get lucky with one or two of them

agreed and yet their offense was best when they had Gronk (an absolute monster) at TE and a generational Randy Moss at receiver. With their greatest of all time QB you can get away with having average receivers
