This is basically a DL version of Anthony Kitchens.

We thought we were smart in overdrafting, but at the end of the day, just no longterm payoff.
 
Total reach. There were other better DEs at that position. Plus we could have used it on better players on Dline or Oline.

I don't think he will amount to much but a backup. WE should not be drafting backups in the 3rd round especially in a position that isn't needed much.

No I'm not happy with this pick. Because they're not going to get the most out of him. I have no faith and or trust in these coaches. So it's not the player, it's the team he plays for.


Who wants another Taco?

I honestly wouldve rather they draft Ben Mason to start at fullback and play all of 15-20 snaps a game to help the run. At least he wouldve contributed. I would have rather taken a punt return specialist like Jaleon Darden who would at least touch the ball. This guy Golston will be a backup to a backup and not contribute at all this year and probably won't next year. Its sad and mind boggling.
 
I think Quinn sees Chauncy Golston as his new Michael Bennett. This young man has the size and the motor to accomplish this.

Of course, time will tell. If Golston turns into a success, this will turn into a major thorn in the Eagles butts. This is the pick Philly gave Dallas to move up two spots for the Heisman winner.

I may be dreaming, but I would love to see both Parsons and Golston selected to the Pro Bowl one season - just to stick it to Philly.
 
Every draft guide i've seen had his rounds 5 or 6. Round 3 was a reach and therefore a poor draft management. ....
 
I like the pick. Firstly, he was a free pick. Secondly, can't hurt to get more trench players. Thirdly, we're shifting to a 3-4 defence. He fits us well as a 3-4 DE. So, it is a good pick.

I think we just have to temper our expectations and prepare for a 0 tackles 0 sack season from this guy.

Wait...I’m not sure if this fits Hitchens.....Hitchens was a good enough pick to the point where he cost too much to retain. That’s what you want your 4th round picks to be.
 
The pick would have been better used moving up in round 2 than drafting this guy in round 3.............b/c surely he would have been there in round 5.

Does it really bother you that someone doenst like the pick? Or that they may know something that you dont? If you hang around here long enough, you will find that some of us on here simply get things right more than others. I argued the same things about Taco and Hill. There was no hindsight. Only a stance after the pick and then the result.

Do you really think all these picks are going to hit? If you cant take a difference of opinion, maybe a chat room isn't the place for you.

We can sit here and argue about who deserved go where but the fact remains you will be having some terrible drafts if you just based it on big boards made by these "experts". You just will. You have to find the diamond in the roughs. You just do and its going to be hard. If it was easy Dak wouldn't' have been a 4th round pick. Brady wouldn't have been a 6th round pick. Darius Leonard wouldn't have been a 2nd rounder. These are how good teams are made. Finding these type of picks. You think the Ravens don't take reaches? The Patriots? Find me a team that doesn't take what you consider to be a "reach".



That's even silly to do though because using this you must've been rather high on LVE in year 1 since he was great? Right? You don't know what a bad pick is until you had years to see it develop or not develop. You can sit here and say that you knew Trysten Hill and Taco were going to be bad and that's fine but I'm willing to bet you wouldn't put money on it that day. Because you simply just don't know. I never in a million years expected Travis Fredericks to be a All Pro center. Just never.

You and me both. But see people kept seeing him being the best safety out there and he was expected to be a 1st or 2nd round pick. Of course he was. But I see this guys every single year. EVERY YEAR. Fans clamor to certain guys that the "experts" bring up....and you may never hear from them ever again or they become journeymen around the NFL.

Well at least I am going off of something. LOL

I go off of watching film, expert opinions pre, during, and post draft. You can call that "not knowing" but that's research buddy. And your stance? What are you going on? Im forming my own opinion that happens to agree with the popular opinion.

And how do you know that the FO wasnt completely blindsided by guys going right in front of them and panicked? Like we have seen them do many times over the years.

And then of course we have their history of drafting to go on after the 1st round. Not good.

Bottom line is you are discounting popular opinion and research and their draft history to give them the benefit of the doubt. Which they don't deserve.

What do you mean what am I going on? I never once made a claim he was a good or bad pick. All I asked was what determines he was a "reach". And all you could say was "experts opinions"....



And I don't know if the front office was caught completely off guard. But if you think that's the case then I'm not entirely sure you understand how the draft process works.

It doesn't work where you have a list of guys you want to draft and then if they go you panic lol. You have a draft board full of hundreds of guys....if someone goes off the board right before you pick you have other guys you are able to pick from that you scouted and liked lol.

You think the McClay or the Cowboys don't call around the league to gauge where guys will be falling? The draft process doesn't work exactly how you are thinking it is.

Plenty on here defending the pick. Also when I dont say I like the pick, I get flack for it. On this very thread.

There was one guy Furboy or whatever called Goldston a "monster".
