Why is it that Detroit can't afford 2 top flight receivers, but we can along with a high priced 3rd receiver. What am I missing?

because jerry wants to win , not just make money like clippers

Well, I tried.
what? is your point that you wanted him here since the beginning of last season? or that your friend has info that a kid who grew up in odessa wants to play for the Dallas cowboys? if so that's shocking! if not let me know what you were aiming for.

roy wants to play in Dallas. I think he wants it bad enough to make it happen.

Exactly.....thank you!

Why is everybody thinking that our #28 will get it done....think harder.

I think people are considering that Detroit has some motivation to get the deal done as well. They get nothing next year unless they franchise him so the #28 isn't a bad deal at all.

I understand that, but a lot of other teams would certainly consider a trade for Roy Williams too don't you think?

You know, like those other 21 teams that have a higher draft pick than the Cowboys.

Probably. But the trade would have to be contingent on a new contract being reached. Roy could just say no to them and only work with Dallas if he really wanted to come home.

His deal runs out at the end of 2008 making him a UFA. Maybe, just maybe other teams don't think they can sign him long term?

Blurb from an article by Tom Kowalski from December 4th while the season was still in full swing.

Still, the overriding factor for Williams is that he simply wants to go home - or get closer to it.

The one thing you learn about Williams very quickly is that he loves Texas and would love to return to his home state. Williams is a Texas guy and mentions it in nearly every interview and flies back to his home in Odessa to see his young child every chance he gets. If the Lions get two consecutive days off, Williams bolts for Texas. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but it shows where his heart is.

Last week, Williams brought up his contract situation out of the blue and said he didn't know what his future holds. Williams quickly added that every player wants to stay with the team that originally drafted him but added "It's hard to do now with free agency.''

I think you're assuming he will refuse to play with anyone but Dallas. I don't think that's true at all.

There aren't many with a louder wallet than Jerry.
why do people keep mentioning this? every team has a cap, it's not like jerry can be goerge steinbrenner and buy all the good players.

Teams with higher draft picks and more cap space can make a lot of noise.

Detroit won't want Brohm. They are very high on Drew Stanton.

Hmmmm....

I know everyone will hate this, but I think Detroit will want BOTH our picks in round one.

They might but we wont give it. They might want this deal to happen also.

I just don't see the deal happening. I don't think they'll want to part with Williams for pick 22 or 28.

The only way I think they do this is for both picks.

That's why I don't think it'll happen.

Say what you want about Millen. I think he realizes he's had enough bad publicity. Trading one of their best players would get him railroaded.
