I actually don't disagree with either of you really.
I just don't know if you can have it both ways.

For me, I need that 6th.

Primarily - For stealer reasons. Heh heh
49ers - gifted #5 by Jerry jones

Secondarily - giants and pats have 4 - too close

Then if we do that... I get on board with going ahead of stealers with #7

:)

I'm all for winning it now as well. I just think it is extremely hard to win it all in any given year but the teams who can manage to stay at the top and contend will have the best chance to break through. Since I have been a Cowboys fan back in the mid 60's my hope is a trip to the Championship game for a chance at making it to the SB. I don't go into any season expecting the SB just the chance to get there.
It is kind of funny I get called a Homer at times yet I don’t ever predict SB’s. I don’t even like talking about SB until they make it to the post season at that point I look at our chances based on how the team is playing.

"...but Chip Kelly's revamped Eagles will own the last laugh."

I'll take that bet. Kelly is all hat and no cattle.

I am sure everyone on here would take that bet :D

Nothing is set in stone as far as who makes the playoffs, especially not in April. That being said I will have faith every year that the Boys can make it, until proven other wise

Not even going to bother opening that click bait. Dallas always sells, these guys know that. I'll take Vegas' odds.

So because Murray left...."leaving the Cowboys to talk up a declining Darren McFadden as a secret weapon. We still see the 'Boys as a dark horse to trade for Adrian Peterson, but reality suggests the team will be forced to lean on a rookie runner."

McFadden was brought as a secret weapon? And we will be FORCED to lean on a rookie runner? Nothing about our OL that will have a big advantage opening holes. Lame article.

I guess the author did not realize that DMac is 6 months younger then Murray.

The same guy who wrote the referenced article on the 5 teams that won't return to the playoffs (Marc Sessler), jumped on the Jags bandwagon last season & picked them as his dark horse team of 2014. And Sessler was likely among the many mediots that predicted doom in Dallas in 2014. He also picked Bortles to be the offensive rookie of the year. Didn't see anyone pick OBJ at the outset.

Interestingly, Sessler apparently felt that a rookie QB could not only be 'leaned on' by a rebuilding franchise like the Jags, but that he could actually have flourished enough to win OROY honors. But he feels that behind the best offensive line in football, Dallas can't work in/rely on a rookie RB to effectively contribute. Interesting insight to say the least.

Ironically, it was rookie All-Pro RG Zack Martin that was leaned on to help pave the way for Murray to lead the league in yards before contact & overall rush yards. And it was also Martin who finished 2nd to Beckham in OROY voting.

Also not mentioned in Sessler's article, is the fact that the Eagles already had one of the most talented backs in the NFL, and they had Sproles too. It's not like they suddenly went from being destitute at the position, to something much more dynamic. McCoy led the league in rushing in 2013, and had 1,300+ yards last season. And Murray wasn't part of some Chip Kelly master plan...he remained unsigned & fell into their laps. They were desperate to replace McCoy after Gore spurned them to go to Indy.

If the author knew a single thing about our team, they'd realize that our success hinges on our defense and not our running game.

But hey, journalism...

Sell more papers or get more clicks....

Chip Kelly is a arrogant fool to think he can dump all his stars and replace them with the often injured crew. They will start strong and cave like a card house just like last year only sooner.

He conveniently left out who the Eagles lost and assumes their every move is a good move. He also didn't mention Hardy and the McClain re-signing and Lee coming back.

There is the possibility.

However I don't get the Chip Kelly's revamp Eagles team line....they might have improved their defense but they gutted their offense...I don't know if Revamped is the word I would use.

I have to agree here. The Eagles have two marginal quarterbacks, throwing to good but not great receivers/tight ends. Murray is good, but last year was his first to play all 16 games, and his production fell off towards the end of the year.

I get a little tired reading about the new offensive game plan that Kelly is bringing to the NFL. How many college coaches have successfully brought their offbeat offensive strategy and been a winner. And if Kelly is so good and innovative, why didn't it work in the NCAAs. Ohio State took care of the Oregon pretty handily, with a third string quarterback I might add.

It is entirely possible that the Cowboys don't make the playoffs next year. Especially if they go into next season without a legit running back.

I think it is unlikely to play out that way, though.

It's simple: it just goes to their credibility. I/we would take them more seriously if they came with a better argument. This Chip Kelly worship is ridiculous. He's basically starting from scratch and I'm supposed to believe they're King of the NFCE just because Chip is running the show? N .fl.com please.

Most teams make changes each year but the new players that are going to Philly are stepping into a whole new world under Chip. It's going to be interesting to see how they respond to his methodology.

Notice how the logic of a mediocre QB is the reason Bengals miss the playoffs? Yet somehow that same logic does not apply to the Eagles?
Oh, I thought you knew ... ain't nothing wrong with Bradford but his ACL. Other than that, he's All World. As Ali would say "he's going to shock the world". Just wait. St. Louis just wasn't doing it right.

I never automatically put us in the playoffs each year... Last year was surely a surprise but I expect us to be improved from last year.
