Tapper, Taco, Dlaw and Moyawa? Is that the worst DE group in the NFL?
Yes
Tapper, Taco, Dlaw and Moyawa? Is that the worst DE group in the NFL?
they certainly should be"We" are asking the questions. Are the Cowboys?
He's had a good camp so far and was sounding like he had the LDE starting slot sewed up.I thought the Cowboys were kicking Crawford inside?
They are lol.I just dont think we can go into opening day, division rival game with two rookies as our only DE depth.
At what point must we make a move for DE?
.
We'll know after the season is over.
If you're not evaluating and grading every game, every practice then the Cowboys are doing it wrong. Waiting until after the entire season has passed to identify and repair problems is piss poor management.
Landry, Jimmy and Parcells were always churning and improving roster DURING the season. And everyone knows, Jimmy wasn't shy about trading for players.
There is not ONE solution. Use evey means available including draft (Taco), FA (convince Ware to come out of retirement, sign cuts from other teams e.g. Shaneil Jenkins from Seahawks, etc.) AND trades (Matt Judon, Tim Williams, Tyus Bowser - Ravens have too many EDGE players).
How do you know they aren't grading?
And maybe they like their solutions better than what's out there?
The DE position has changed a great deal in the last 3 seasons.
And maybe they will add something DURING the season, but at this point they have two guys that will be joining the team early on in the season.
Finally roster spots are at a premium.
I can't envision them cutting:
Crawford
Lawrence
Tapper
Mayowa
Irving
Charlton
That's 6 guys right there?
Those guys are flat-out safe.
Then you have Moore who by many accounts has looked darned good in camp.
I'd say it's the most unproven.
Can't say it's the worst until they've competed.
YOU were the one saying evaluation will occur end of season Mike, not me.
And if you can't envision an upgrade from those 6 guys then the discussion is moot, I can't help you there.
Sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of the 400,000 posts that said our 2015 defense would be the "worst of the last 30 years".
Who's available?
I was going to comment something clever and then Fever Lake came on the tube and the conflagration of Corey Haim and Mario Lopez on one set caused me to have the most massive brain dump since that cock fight in East LA with the cops questioning me about who organized the event. The four you mentioned --- D Law if he is here --- will hold the fort. Taco as 3rd string.
Its our linebackers who will be the sieve and make the DEs look bad.[/QUOTE
2 rookies ,a journeyman and a guy with one foot out the door,i would say a big Yes.
That evaluation was in reference to a ham & eggers statement that this set of DE's is the worst in the NFL...
How do you know if:
A. Some haven't played a snap in the NFL
B. Some are coming back from an injury problem
Shouldn't you allow some games to be played first?
And truly unless you give them a full season of snaps... You don't know.
That is true they need it they need to have a good great defense. I think you can forget about a ring this year though they are going to go with what they have and hope they get there but I doubt they willneeds to come a time when the best defense on this team is not having the offense playing more and the D playing less. Championships are still won by defense. If Cowboys are serious about fighting for a ring THIS season then this needs to addressed
Who is this @bigbob and why am I enjoying him so much? That is true they need it they need to have a good great defense. I think you can forget about a ring this year though they are going to go with what they have and hope they get there but I doubt they will
We missed the window to add an impact player. We might add somebody at cutdowns, but it won't be anybody special. We've gotta roll with what we've got now.
At least it sounds like Crawford will be back.
I wonder (which means have serious doubts) about how ready he'd be for Pro Football in general. Not sure how many know this but Randy Gregory can apply for reinstatement somewhere around the first week of November. Remember he was suspended for a year Jan 6 but if I'm not mistaken, he can apply for reinstatement 60 days BEFORE his suspension expires. That would make him eligible Nov 6. HOWEVER, as we've learned with Randy being eligible to return AND clean, are two different things (LOL).
