You are something else. The fact that you don't realize this goes on every day in corporations is beyond me. How many CEOs pay off women to not come forward?

How old are you, 12?

I bet you also think Goodell is clean as a whistle and is doing an outstanding job being commissioner.

Cute picture by the way. When pics are your rebuttal, you know you are dealing with someone of low intelligence who uses pics and memes to convey their points.

13 actually.

Wait... what? We already knew he knocked out his soon to be wife in an elevator and saw video of him dragging her out of said elevator and he was already suspended for this action. So now a video comes out featuring the knock out that he has already been suspended for and for that he is fired? Why? What has changed that made that necessary? How does seeing the knock out change things? Hitting a woman in that manor is disgusting and I suggest he should have been fired from the word go, but he wasn't so I fail to see how the video changes anything. If the NFL is worried about it's accountability to the players that commit domestic violence then why was the original punishment only a 2 game suspension. Why is the 49er player that was charged for domestic violence just days after the new policy was issued, allow to play against Dallas on week one. The lack of consistency within in the league continues. Firing Ray Rice doesn't fix anything, it only further exacerbates the inconstancy that already exists.

Coupled with other evidence, it shows an assault so severe as to cause unconsciousness.

I don't agree. If somebody came to me with that video as proof of an assault, I wouldn't find any. You assumed the assault. Your imagination filled in the details. In this case, it's right. In the next case with a similar video it could just as easily be wrong.

What statements did Rice and his wife give authorities? Obviously someone admitted an assault took place and the video showed the victim knocked cold.

You asked if the first video wasn't enough. No it wasn't. The first video didn't show an assault. Now you're bringing up other evidence but that only supports what I'm saying. That video, on it's own, proves absolutely nothing.

In conjunction with the fact that Rice never denied assaulting her, it is evidence of a vicious assault--but we are picking at hairs now.

Ray is a first time offender so that should meam 6 games right. But his is a special case, a landmark case if you will. Six games is probably not enough so lets make it the whole season. The video evidence changes the perspective on this one I agree but I dont think its cool that the NFL gets to go back and rewrite history. With the current situation though,Ray's presence in the league is argueably untenable. What happens next time a video comes out for a first time offender after the sentence has been handed out?

We only know about this because it happened in public. Most of these incidents take place in private.

I think he agrees with all that. He's saying that if someone showed you just the video you can't be sure it was assault. The first video just as easily could have been her passed out drunk. If the first video is all you got, and there was no other mention of admissions or charges or whatever you can't be sure if there was assault and if there was if he was defending himself or not. Which, once again, wouldn't have made this alright anyway.

Now the second video is much worse. There is no way around it even if they both said nothing had happened and she was just passed out drunk. The second video shows you exactly what went on and how brutal it was. The reality is with her hitting her head on that bar she's really lucky, as is he, that it wasn't even worse.

And I agree with all that. The issue is you can't take the first video in pure isolation, because Rice admitted assaulting her. The first video is, then, evidence of how vicious the assault was--he knocked her stone cold. Unless someone wants to say he might of pushed her lightly, she slipped and hit her head or whatever. BUT neither of them said that. The first video is therefore plenty of evidence to conclude a vicious assault took place, it wasn't necessary to wait for the second video.

The second video is way worse, to me. Maybe that's just Risen and myself on this. That's entirely possible.

But with the first video you can assume a whole lot of things that might have happened. It's obvious that whatever they told people wasn't anywhere nearly close to the truth of what happened. The speculation of what happened in there is what led people to question if he defended himself against her if she was attacking him and all this other stuff.

The new video clearly shows that even the most ignorant of people, who were trying to come up with excuses and ways to let him off the hook for it to begin with, couldn't possibly make any sort of valid or logical defense for him.

bingo

I have tried to argue that point on another board and of course am being accused of supporting domestic abuse etc

apparently the story that Goodell got from Rice was basically borne out by the video, he and his wife didn't lie
