he played the philly game 6 days after tearing cartilage which was limiting his breathing.

And this guy never talks, who knows what kind of bumps and bruises he has played through.

Anyone who questions barber's toughness in this thread should have to have a dunce cap as the avatar for a whole year.

I noticed you didnt comment on Emmitt's DISLOCATED shoulder he played through? He had 100+ yards and 10 receptions against the Giants. Tough guys play football through pain, period.

Why was Witten, Crayton, JJ all expecting him too tough through the pain early in the week? Because he should be able too!

Face it Barber may not be the tough guy you dream he is?

I can't believe how disloyal some people are. The guy is tough, but if you want to start worshipping a toe less college RB, who probably wont ever get drafted or make a team, go ahead.

edit: HE was a linemen.... Whats he need his toe for? he can play on a stump.
edit2: and it was a finger not a toe. What you just save that from Romo pinky week and forgot to post it?

Good, they don't respect the run, our huge O-line will run them over! We will be fine.
That O-line has been average in recent years at run blocking and mediocre most of this season. I expect more of the same. Go Romo! Just please dont screw up by turning the ball over.

hey Tuna, Theebs had a good point. if it was up to Barber to play he would. Our trainers are probably keeping him out cause they screwed up with other players this year(Roy,Kosier,Felix).

I doubt they screwed up as you say. As I said before, when you dislocate something the tendons get stretched and weakened. I also think that the training staff knew he wasn't going to play but made the Steelers have to prepare for him.

IIRC, I've also heard that had the team lost, Emmitt most certainly wouldn't have been able to play the next week. Yes, Emmitt was heroic, but he would've been no good the next week if they'd had to play. HFA allowed him to heal up enough to play after the BYE.

Then why didn't Emmitt play with that Quad injury for 2 games in November of that same year...against the lowly Falcons and mediocre Dolphins, we LOST BOTH of those games!

Yah-Emmitt was such a wus, eh?:laugh1:

Well, the last few weeks the oline has played well. I think having holland in there is a major upgrade over Proctor.

Barber has been somewhat of a disappointment this season. I like his hard-hitting attitude, but he's only getting 3.9 YPC.

A couple of things. Why would I comment on emmitt? I and everyone else knows exactly what he was. Amazing.

and that injury happened during the game. Not the week prior, during.

And I pointed out that barber played the eagles this year with torn cartilage and couldnt breathe properly. And he was outstanding against philly and gb with the injury and that is a comparable injury to the shoulder emmitt had.

and again, You have to be the biggest tool ever if you think barber is holding himself out.

I think the field conditions and the weather forecast in Pitt played a factor in that decision making process. We still have three more games to play after this one and if he aggravates it we might lose him for an extended period of time.

Bingo.
The game next week is divisional.

Marion Barber out for Sunday, Tashard Choice likely to start

Marion Barber's injured dislocated right toe must hurt worse than anyone thought.

Barber will not play in Sunday's game and did not travel with the team to Pittsburgh.

Coach Wade Phillips thought Barber would be able to take it easy during the week and then play against the Steelers. He said Thursday that Barber's status was a game-time decision. However, Barber sat in the training room on Friday and didn't have a good look on his face.

Barber's agent Drew Rosenhaus said Saturday afternoon he had no comment about the player's status. Barber said last Monday that he was going to try different shoes to see which one gave him the most comfort and support. However, he never practiced all week.

This means backup rookie Tashard Choice is probably going to get his first start of the season. Choice has 147 yards on 30 carries this season but no touchdowns. He got his most work of the year in the Thanksgiving Day win over Seattle. Choice had 57 yards on 11 carries. His best gainer came when he shot around the left end for 27 yards.

The team also promoted Alonzo Coleman from the practice squad to bolster the depth.

Did he ever sit for a Pinkie TOE?

I dislocated (all ligaments, ripped) my thumb and it pointed towards my chest. I was boxing at the time and preparing for a match, and I continued to train.

I understand the pain level and he should be able stabilize the toe and play.

Its not difficult to understand that it is all pain tolerance he is lacking.

And I don't think barber was ever going to play this week. Bringing up Coleman, spending time with Choice, in retrospect it looks obvious. A poster mentioned earlier it was probably to get the Steelers to prepare for Barber.

Barber's performance against two of the worst rushing Defenses was weak. He barely put up over 3 YPC in both games.

Most on here on blind to that fact. He looked like the Barber of last year on the road against Washington and Green Bay, but he's really struggled to carry the load. I think just as much blame goes on the guys up front, but he's just not the same. Nevermind the fact that he averages 1.6 fewer yards in the 4th quarter compared to last season.

Honestly, a lot of that has been because of the injury to Kosier. But really, would you be fine if Barber had 4.2 YPC this year? If he was at 4.2 YPC then he'd have 75 more rushing yards this season. That's an extra 6.25 yards per game. Let's not get too caught up with arbitrary benchmarks.

I'm not really concerned about losing Barber with the exception of blitz pickup. I actually think when it comes to running/receiving Choice might actually do better than Barber would have.

Barber isn't exactly having a great year. Yes 3.9 average overall isn't THAT bad, but with the exception of 3 or 4 games, his numbers HAVE been pretty bad. The loss of ONE seemingly average to solid OG isn't an exuse. And he wasn't any better with Holland who everyone says looked good Thursday.
