Are teams allowed to dump a guy who is under contract for something like this? I thought the league had to be the source of punishment for substance abuse... enlightenment, please?

If he is in the substance abuse program they can't cut him. He gets a warning, then 4 games, then one year suspensions. However if he isn't in the substance abuse program and he fails some kind of drug test then they can cut him no problem. Also I believe that if you're not in the substance abuse program then the first failed test or something similier you automatically get suspended for the 4 games, no warning.

That's what Quincy Carter's grievence with the Cowboys was, he felt he was cut because of a failed drug test and not because of his play on the field.

The NFL's substance abuse problem works a lot like any other place of employment's SAP does. They can't fire you for seeking help with your problem which is what the SAP is about.

If i got any of this wrong, somebody feel free to correct me, but this is how I remember it, when all the QC stuff was going down.

We could really use some help at DT, great addition for our nickel packages, and could maybe even come relieve Jason a bit.

I say yes.

Haha! gotcha...

Now there's a shocker!! Maybe we'll get lucky and Pac will be released, huh?

I would like that too. Gives us depth at CB and a potential starter/replacement for Henry......as soon as the suspension is served. Dude is talented. We could have him back next year, if ever. Get er dun Jerry!!!11!11!!1!

I would be all for that. He certainly is talented, and we need youth at that position.

Some things are worth waiting for, no matter WHO they shock.

True. Gives us athleticism and a playmaker opposite Newman....

Good....

How long do you think it takes him to catch on that we are being sarcastic?

Just what this team needs guys who can't stay out of trouble and will continue to face suspension. That would be cool get into the season and have one of these idiots get suspended and screw the club over in the process. These guys don't just let themselves down they let the entire ball club down as the team scrambles to find some type of replacement. I hope Jerry is smart enough to realize these guys are not worth it.

Sign him.... Pure Pass rusher...

wow. 9 sacks in 3 seasons.

if that's a "pure" pass rusher, you must have loved our DL over the past few years.

Why are you worried?

Where has it been reported that we are going to look at Tank?

In fact, if anything, we'll stand put at NT. Wade said earlier (following the draft) that he liked our NT depth and who we had there.

We will stay away from Tank and PacMan (if/when he is released)...as we should.

We have been sorely lacking that. Pac-Man would give us playmakers at safety, corner, and LB.

Days...weeks...months....Who knows?

I would hope that Jerry isn't that short-sighted. PacMan's released, you've got to look at rehabilitation possibilities. The guy already cut his dreds.

You know.

.

True. Cutting of the dreads is the first sign that he is willing to change his appearance and outlook on life. Rather than a 'gangster haircut' he will look much more professional. Definetly worth a second chance.

Am I going to far with the dripping sarcasm/generalizations (I am sure you caught the humor in that) going too far?

WOW... that move took balls. Tommie Harris is the better player, but Tank Johnson can fill it up inside. I am really suprised by that move.

Is it just me or is this team disintegrating before our eyes? Briggs is leaving, Rivera ( I know he isn't really a cover-2 guy but still he kept the defense working well) Maybe disitegrating is too strong of a word, but I think that team has alot of holes and problems. I wonder what their real record would be if they didn't play in the NFC north, or didn't have those 6-7 miracle special-teams plays a year.

Maybe the fact that the defense is what keeps this team going is starting to break up with Briggs and now T. Jonhson leaving will start the bears to want to make a play at Mcnabb.

I think the guy would be a good fit for 90 % of the teams in this league I don't want to be the GM to bring him in.

Don't worry, I really doubt Jerry is that stupid to even consider bringing aboard these knuckleheads.

Now, punk and Vintage? Just be glad they don't run the show! If either one became the GM they would hire RealCowboyFan as the head scout!!

(disclaimer: now, if Jerry should bring either of these flunkies to the team, I will have to apologize to the Punk and Vintage...however, I think I'm safe)

It sounded like you were worried because of "i hope jerry is smart enough..."

I thought you were legitimately concerned.

At any rate, we wont touch PacMan and Tank anyway...

He cut his dreads oh well that changes everything. :laugh2: He has been arrested 11 times sorry you don't have to be a rocket scientist to realize this guy is trouble and I would hope Jerry would be smart enough not to deal with him. He is not so talented that a team can't live without him and believe it or not there will be other talented CB coming to the NFL without bringing their trash along with them.

Well, with Alex Brown wanting to leave....Mark Anderson is a better pass rusher.

Anderson, Ogunyele, Anderson, and their 4th DT will make a very formidable front 4. Briggs being gone will hurt, but its not for sure he will sit out. Plus, they have Mike Brown at one S coming back from injury (an upgrade) and they can throw Archuleta/Manning/Harris at the other spot.
