Relying on Dunbar and McChicken, how did that turn out last year?

Completely agree on drafting a young stud. Forte much better than McChicken and Dunbar.

You know mcchicken out rushed forte last year, had more yards per carry and one less td

McFadden's 1089 yards this past season were more yards than Forte has rushed for the past 2 seasons. In 2014 Forte rushed for 1038 yards averaging only 3.9 a carry. He hasn't averaged more than 4.1 the last 2 seasons. The guy is in decline.

Yeah, probably not but the Bears aren't bringing him back. If we could get him cheap like DMC and then draft a young stud in the 2nd(Z. Elliott from OSU?) then maybe I guess. Before you say: "Why would we need DMC, Forte AND a stud rookie RB just think about Romo and his humpty dumpty body first. I think if we ran about 65% of the time next season it might get him through upright. Draft a QB early, get a rookie RB in the 2nd or 3rd round, then go heavy on D again.

Elliot will go in the top 15 probably.....I am not willing to spend a 4th pick on him...he is good but not AD good.

we probably will draft a RB....they are easy to find and its been proven you don't need top 5 RB to succeed. you just need to have a good running game...

Dunno... how many though Deangelo Williams was toast after '14? Or even McFadden after '14.

The point being Under the right circumstances I could see Forte doing a credible job as a part-time back in '16.

No, I would not want to see him getting 250 carries, but I wouldn't want to see McFadden get that amount either.

Forte could be the guy that splits carries with McFadden if he accepted a reasonable contract.

I would be :dance:ing for joy if Ezekiel Elliott fell to the #34 pick. But I'm about 99.9 percent sure that's not going to happen.

Be that as it may, no on Matt Forte. His best years are behind him.

That won't happen lol, specially with what Gurley did this passed year.

Absolutely! I would rather have him backing up McFadden rather than that little guy from UNT whom I cannot recall given he is always hurt.

Of course they (Cowboys) would still have to draft a RB, preferably in the 3rd round or later.

Here's another reason why the Cowboys could go with Forte or another veteran...

If there's one thing this offense likes it's backs who understand blitz responsibility.

A rookie isn't going to do that.

Depends on his price tag. I don't expect the Cowboys to pay big money for any RB except THE RB... AD.

I do believe Forte would be an upgrade over McFadden mainly because of his all around ability. He is arguably the best pass catching back in the league.

On the other hand, he does come with a lot of risk.

He does have a lot of pass catching ability. I don't think he's McFadden's equal running the football, but I don't think Forte is a slouch either.

I don't see this as replacing one with the other. I think you're going to see two back both be used a great deal.

some other team who thinks they are a RB away from competing for the ship will fork over more $$$ than we are willing to pay (which is a good thing considering his age and our current RB situation)

I don't see Forte in Dallas happening

Last season---Dallas, Philly, Oakland and Jacksonville had interest in Murray.

Dallas was the only team that could have been considered competing for the chip.

Jacksonville and Dallas did not want to overpay for him so it was between Philly and Oakland, Murray chose Philly.

Murray was coming off an OPOY season and is younger than Forte, that just goes to show how bad the market is for running backs. The only two running backs that got paid last year (McCoy, Murray) are both considered busts, that doesn't help the market at all.

Seriously, looking around the league...a lot of teams have a good young back on their roster or an established back. I don't see there is going to be a huge market for any running back to get paid huge this season. I predict Forte will be a FA longer than most of us think and will eventually sign a 2 year deal that will be considered a bargain.

This post is not an endorsement to sign Forte, just showing how much teams hate paying running backs, especially used up ones.

No thank you. He's had a good career. All purpose back but on the wrong side of 30. Draft the future feature back.

Too old, too pricey

He is older.

Price?

I don't think he's going to hold out for some $4 mil per season contract... cos he knows he isn't going to get it.

I think he can be gotten for something similar to what McFadden received last season.

I think he could make a good argument that he deserves a deal similar to Frank Gore. Gore signed for 3/12 but really it was more like 2 for 8.5. I could see him signing a deal for 2-3 years high in guarantees which isn't that bad of a deal. It's the long extensions that kill a teams cap...not the 2-3 year deals.

Not that cheap. He's at least 3mil per and more than I would be willing to pay for an older RB. I'm in the Miller camp or draft pick. I'm also comfortable with McFadden starting, provided we bring in someone behind him.

I'm not sure who would give him that kind of money.
