Yeah, probably not but the Bears aren't bringing him back. If we could get him cheap like DMC and then draft a young stud in the 2nd(Z. Elliott from OSU?) then maybe I guess. Before you say: "Why would we need DMC, Forte AND a stud rookie RB just think about Romo and his humpty dumpty body first. I think if we ran about 65% of the time next season it might get him through upright. Draft a QB early, get a rookie RB in the 2nd or 3rd round, then go heavy on D again.

You have to be very careful with running backs his age and also one who has only played for one team. Players his age tend to deteriorate quickly when they leave their original team. With that being said, he is superior to McFadden Imo. He has been a really good running back. He gets additional yards, appears to be a good teammate, catches the ball out of the backfield and probably is not going to break the bank as you say. Where McFadden gives me the impression of a guy who gets what the play is blocked for, Forte is very good of getting those few extra yards on a lot of his runs.

I just hope we aren't just tied to McFadden. He was a nice find at his salary but you can upgrade there and we should keep all options open.

Why do Zoners keep bringing up everyone who gets dumped by another team as someone we should consider for our team.
He's on the wrong side of old for RB's and he's not an improvement on what we have at RB today. Quit trying to search for
talent in other teams trash dumpster. There are lots of RB's in the draft we can find one and it will be much cheaper than Forte.

I didn't see him play much last year.

How was he?

He was good when it came to rushing. He wasn't much of a receiver this year than he was in previous years.
Seemed like he wasn't that home run threat as he once was. However, I think he can still get the tough yards when called upon.

If he is slowing down then i'll pass.

I'd go for someone in the draft with fresh legs.

I would bring him only for redzone or short yard threat for PA. Even though he probably does more dancing than downhill running, he did score 7 tds in 13 games. Cowboys don't have that TD threat from the RB position imo.

I would be :dance:ing for joy if Ezekiel Elliott fell to the #34 pick. But I'm about 99.9 percent sure that's not going to happen.

Be that as it may, no on Matt Forte. His best years are behind him.

We couldn't get in position to score TD's. That's why.

Without Romo it's nothing but the Jason Garrett 3 & out attack.

How did you not see him play much last year? You must not play fantasy football.

Anyway.......he played great. He is worth bringing in on a year or two contract for 2-3 million per year to pair with a young stud. I would get rid of McChicken, but I know that wont happen. Forte, RB in the draft, McChicken. That would be a very nice backfield. We should run the ball 35 times a game with that crew. Forte can do it all and has the vision that Murray and McChicken never had.

BTW, i'm not a big Derick Henry fan but something about his game just screams perfect fit in Dallas.

Dallas needs impact players and not more foot foot soldiers and something about Henry makes me think he could be a big impact player here.

I play fantasy and Forte is usually one of the best but I thought he was dinged up quite a bit last year and the rookie Langford looked better when he played.

He's another year older and I just don't know if that is the route I would go.

With Tressel as his coach Forte was unbelievable.

Just draft a RB
We have Dmac who played very well last year. We have Dunbar who was really the catalyst for the offense before he was injured and we have Turbin. Bring in a young guy and let Turbin compete with him because there are only so many roster spots for rb's

Yes, he did get banged up in the 2nd half of the season. I would not want Forte for a future back or rely on him to carry the load all season. But in a rental for a year or two, he is a waaaaaay better option that the hapless McChicken and an all around back. He would thrive behind Dallas line and can catch passes and block with the best of them. Great speed and vision.

Also a great mentor for a young stud that we probably wont take in the draft again.

Relying on Dunbar and McChicken, how did that turn out last year?

Completely agree on drafting a young stud. Forte much better than McChicken and Dunbar.

Pretty sure Turbin is a free agent (though I am sure there may be some mutual interest) and I wouldn't count on Dunbar for a second. Sure he is talented but whenever he gets going, he gets hurt. I have doubts if he will ever stay healthy.

Forte may have something left in the tank, I like that he is a complete back but aging veterans rarely work out. I would much rather bring in Lamar Miller or draft someone.

Everyone said AP was going to slow down and he lead the league in rushing this year

He did slow down as the season wore on. He had a significant drop off in production after 11 games and a big part of the reason he led the league is because he got the ball so much.

His last 5 games he had 90 carries, 321 yards (3.56 YPC) and touchdowns. He was also awful in the playoffs and is very careless with the football. Part of it could be his age/mileage or it could be a fluke.
