This is the strategy and have been the strategy all year. Force teams to march down the field, tighten up in the red zone, and on offense, slowly move the ball down field and score.

It's the 2016 formula, and you can't argue with the results.

Yep. Next year hopefully we try to add some help on defense. For now, we try to make chicken salad out of chicken ****....so far so good.

And I think this is what they're waiting for. I think we go 1 stud free agent pick up, draft 2 guys on the line, get a CB, get another safety and a SPEEDY wide receiver. I'd take that draft and run with it.

Hmmm, I posted this exact same thing in the game thread. Our defense doesn't have to be a shutdown defense. We have to be a defense that makes you work for everything you get. We did that for all but one play in the game.

Not really. They were giving up big plays all game, not just the one.

Protecting the ball is crucial to keep our defense off the field. Dak has been terrific all year in making good decisions. 11 games and only 2 interceptions. That's winning football.

Don't buy it. At all. He just isn't the type to call out anyone in public

I am happy we got the WIN. It was a big deal. I knew Washington would be tough.

Quite honestly, we got outplayed today. If Washington hit the two missed field goals we would have likely lost.

Again, I am glad we won this game, but we will most likely not win the super bowl if we play the way we did today in the playoffs. We need to be at least +1 in turnover ratio, or be very effective on third down.

Having said all of the foregoing you could also say that if we had one more stop on third down (the one I am thinking of we had the guy stopped short and poor tackling gave him a gift first down) the game could have started rolling out way more than it did.

A couple of plays are usually the difference between winning and losing. I am glad this year we are making them instead of the other team.

I'm surprised it took a 6th round rookie CB this long to slip up that badly, especially with the limited pass rush up front. He has been playing incredibly well, and growing pains are inevitable.

Other than that, the weak tackle by scandrick was the only other egregious error I remember. I thought the defense, given the circumstances, played well within the scheme. Byron jones and Sean lee are killing it.

Only Garrett would walk away from this game after giving up 500 yards with NO sacks and NO turovers (for 4 straight weeks) and say "Just what I was hoping for..."

He should be challenging these guys because that unit just got embarrassed IMO

IMO it already is. Our offensive line should be mauling teams at the end of games instead of trying to keep pace with other teams

Most NFL games go this way even against good defenses.

If our defense was legit it would be completely over.

You have to give up something on your roster somewhere in the salary cap era.

Tapper and Gregory were our lottery ticket and they didn't hit so now we just gotta do the best we can with what we have.

I don't worry about the defense because they don't give up very many big plays.

Taking years to develop Garrett has unleashed the "no sack" defense.

LOL!

Well in essence that's what they've done.

They know that even with a four-man rush they aren't getting to the passer so they're saying "screw-it" and going with maximum coverage in the secondary. But with missing two starters the secondary is committing errors.

That's really the bottom line.

This isn't going to be a "lock-down" defense this season... It just isn't.

The best they can do is to limit opposing offenses to field-goals while the Cowboy offense gets touchdowns.

Not really saying anything new, we did a great job at bending but not breaking.

But we still gave up over 500 yards and over 400 yards passing, with no sacks, minimal pressure in the second half, and most importantly, no turnovers (not counting the 2 point conversion one).

This isn't going to be a great defense, but they did what needed to be done.

It almost feels like cheating knowing we're 10-1 and still have a ton of room to improve, specifically on defense.
