Before going off on the Defense watch the Garrett presser

I doubt he wanted zero sacks and no turnovers. Look, they had a game plan and what he's describing is that game plan. They didn't execute it as well as they wanted, but they won in spite of that.

Now if you want to talk about why that's the game plan, that's a different story. The Commanders have the most loaded receiving corp in the NFL and the Cowboys are one of the most banged up teams in the secondary in the NFL. Combine that with a team whose best pass rusher might be a CB, and you see why the plan was to make them drive the field methodically, not give up big plays and make them play error free. It worked and the Commanders continually stalled in the redzone.

Get used to it, because until the secondary heals up, this is going to be a common game plan.

Only Garrett would walk away from this game after giving up 500 yards with NO sacks and NO turovers (for 4 straight weeks) and say "Just what I was hoping for..."

He should be challenging these guys because that unit just got embarrassed IMO

I'm sure the defense won't be getting much thanks from the defensive coordinator.

But come-on... They only gave up 26 points and won vs. an offense that's been on fire.

I love how our team is playing hard every down. We need to take into account that we just finished playing a physical team on Sunday. Some of these guys probably struggled to get out of bed today. We are finding ways to win. People need to consider our 3rd rank run D and how leaving teams at 3&7 or so keeps the pressure on the opposing offense.

We didn't hog the ball on offense this game but yet we still won the game and people still complaining. Our defense has kept us in games all year even in tight games when our offense hasn't been effective. It amazes me how some of you so called fans talk the way you do. It's not being a realist it's being a fool or sticking to your agenda.

Holding the number 2 offense to 6 points for 3 quarters when we didn't win time of possession is good defense. Gave up 20 in the 4th quarter which you don't want but Washington was all cards in and Dallas played soft. Other then a rookie mistake by Brown, Washington had a tough time scoring. We got pressure on Cousins and he was hit numerous times. Sacks don't always tell the story with pressure, Reed made some incredible catches.

I'm happy with this win, offense and defense both did enough to win this football game. A division game that many said we would lose but yet the same people have that agenda. It's sad really can't enjoy a division win without complainers of supposedly Cowboy fans

Dont discount those 2 missed FGs

twas not a game to hang a hat on for the D
Did they get those FGs.......no they didn't. Defense had to get the stop for them even to attempt, is not like those 2 FGs were 20 yarders, they were long FGs.

The defense plays way too soft at times.

Teams are just too good at throwing the ball to just give up 5 or 6 yards with out any fight.

Every time they got the Skins in 2nd and long, they just dropped back and let them pick up 5 to 7 yards which kept them in easy 3 and 3 all game.

How did that work for them?

Yep.

The defense simply doesn't have the talent level needed to dominate a game from start to finish.

They're making do with what they have... And for the most part doing it adequately.

I get the grumblings, I do, but our defense is what it is. I know that sounds like a broken record on this forum but it's fact. We have to just hope the gameplans work, and they have so far, so you just have to keep faith. This defense has helped us get to 10-1, so there is that.

Also, getting healthy would help. Those injuries hurt us bad.

Hmmm, I posted this exact same thing in the game thread. Our defense doesn't have to be a shutdown defense. We have to be a defense that makes you work for everything you get. We did that for all but one play in the game.
We lack talent but they play hard and they make teams work for it. For the most part they force teams to kick fg's rather than give up td's
The talent is what it is but the staff and players are getting the best out of the talent they have

Not complaining about anything but if our offense controlled the clock more in the first and second half Washington don't score 26. Refs helped a ton on 3rd down. I'm happy with the defense especially with Claiborne and Church out. Plus Scandrick not 100 percent and Jones was limbing. Wilcox went out as well but yet Washington still only scored 26......that's amazing

It took them nearly 4 minutes on that last drive when they needed two touchdowns. That's what sealed the game, to be honest. Bend but don't break is working nicely for this defense. It can be infuriating to watch, but hey ... 10 straight wins.
