I only put part of your quote because that's what I want to comment on, not getting in the middle of the "you supported Jason" discussion.
Like you, I'm not overly thrilled with the McCarthy hiring, though obviously it was time to get rid of Garrett, just didn't have the results I wanted.
And I have to agree it doesn't seem at all likely Jerry will back off entirely, or even mostly, from his meddling. He's too old, too long as the owner/gm, leopards don't change their spots, as the saying goes. Though the hiring of the various coaches would indicate Jerry has let to the reins at least somewhat.
And 1000% agree NOTHING will greatly change my attitude about my team without results. I seem to remember how happy everyone was to get rid of "coach cupcake", yet here we are 10 years later, with only limited more success than Phillips. Now most everybody is thrilled to have gotten rid of "the clapper"/"the puppet", but first of all NO head coach in over 50 Super Bowls has won one with two different teams, if McCarthy does it will be history, and history isn't always easily made.
I will admit to feeling somewhat better now than the last few years, if for no other reason than we're seeing a much bigger change than before, lots of new coaches, and a younger team that seems to have a lot of potential. The last 5 years or so it's been minor changes, and even those, like the Kiffin and Marinelli hires (for gosh sakes, Marinelli was 0-16 one year, even though that was as head coach and he wasn't head coach at Dallas, but I digress), has beens hired 20 years too late.
My better feelings are tempered by not only the no repeat SB winning coaches, but also because historically SB winning coaches do so early in their careers, just for examples Sean Payton, Don Shula, even our own beloved Tom Landry
, take away the first 5 years to build the expansion team, and all his SB appearances came in the next 12 years, none thereafter. There are lots of other examples, a few that are the opposite, but you can look it up. McCarthy won his SB in his 5th year, 8 years after he was fired. Now he's not that far removed from that, and in only his now 14th year, maybe he still has time.
I'll watch, as always, but to say I'm feeling another title or two or three is "imminent" is pretty far from the truth...
