I recall this nugget from Hatcher during last TC: "Ben Bass is going to be the reason I'm playing on a different team next year.."

http://cowboysblog.***BANNED-URL***...m-playing-on-a-different-team-next-year.html/

Apparently he was tearing it up in TC. Looking forward to see what Rod can do with him.

Great minds!

Fair enough big dog. We will need a QB sooner rather than later. Love Tony, but that ride is almost over. There are a couple of very good ones that may be available.

We'll get a QB in the later rounds. I'm targeting Logan Thomas from VT.

We can all hope that Bass makes waves, but that just goes along with all of the other "hope" along the line. Hope that Selvie can continue being respectable, hope that Melton can return to form, hope that Crawford pans out, hope that Dallas can grab another DE through Free Agency or the draft.

Overall, it is pretty easy to see why people are down on this line. This is by far the most uncertainty that we have had there in years. It could pan out, but it could also easily be hot garbage.

i think this depends on what they think of weeden
my guess is they signed weeden as that guy so they would not have to spend a draft pick there

IMO that is smart becasue this year there are very very good players that can be good rotational guys available all the way into the 7th round so rounds 4-7 should not be considered for 'throw away' picks but to build depth and future starters at positions of need

I still think the guy can be a solid d-lineman in the mold of Jonathan Babineaux. Those of you who disagree with me ya'll can kiss my Bass.

The team seemed really high on Bass. It will be interesting to see how it ends up in the mix. First you have to remember he never really did anything, and he is also coming off of an injury. Don't be surprised if the latest and greatest ends up getting cut after training camp once again...Or he could end up a starter... who knows.

This is a serious question, I consider myself a big cowboy fan. I watch all the games, try to read a lot on them, and visit several cowboy message boards. I mostly read and don't post often. I certainly don't break down the game plays like some do nor do I go back and rewatch certain positions after the game.

So with that being said, I never heard of Ben Bass until well into this season. And I think I have only heard about him on this forum. I looked at his bio and he started 3 games in his college career. Now that doesn't eliminate hm from becoming a solid player, but I am just wondering if some posters here think the unknown is more exciting than the known? It just seems like he is shiny and new because we haven't seen him like we saw some of our lineman getting blown off the ball last year.

Its obviously an open question but the coaches are high on him and he looked good in preseason before getting hurt. There are no guarantees obviously but the last practice squad player who only had "coaches like him" going for him was Ron Leary and that turned out well.

You, my friend, need to check yourself with all of our Ben Bass doubting.

There is no room for that here on CZ.

I just hope he can come back from his injury and can develop under Marinelli and his defensive line coach Leon Lett.

Didn't stop Andre Holmes from getting cut.

He is a guy who has been on IR for 2 seasons straight without playing, he is as useful as Matt Johnson.
