This is a serious question, I consider myself a big cowboy fan. I watch all the games, try to read a lot on them, and visit several cowboy message boards. I mostly read and don't post often. I certainly don't break down the game plays like some do nor do I go back and rewatch certain positions after the game.

So with that being said, I never heard of Ben Bass until well into this season. And I think I have only heard about him on this forum. I looked at his bio and he started 3 games in his college career. Now that doesn't eliminate hm from becoming a solid player, but I am just wondering if some posters here think the unknown is more exciting than the known? It just seems like he is shiny and new because we haven't seen him like we saw some of our lineman getting blown off the ball last year.

As a rookie minicamp invite he quickly showed to be on par with the 3rd round pick Crawford and the coaching staff (and fans) had hope for him and Crawford going into last season. This team unfortunately has some serious mojo problems when it comes to injuries.

I agree, it was said Jerry must have sold his soul to win 3 SB? well it is time to sell Stephen soul to change our mojo and get back to the SB. lol

ahh yes, the offseason hype, then will come the draft hype, the camp hype, the practice squad hype, and finally the middle of the season wavier wire pickup hype. I hope the hype on Bass is right, I honestly don't know what to expect...... we can sure use some good fortune.

Here's to BB having a reason to invent a sack dance!

Whenever bass has played, he's been disruptive. I think he can be a good player.

We reserve second round picks for TE. I would love to see a QB in the 2nd.

In that 2nd round....either you are going to get someone who DROPPED considerably or you are going to draft one too high. I haven't seen many mocks of qb's going. I personally would like Murray who should be a 4th or 5th rounder with his injury.

I'm just going by what Hatcher said...

i guess i'll never understand why this is such a popular "myth" people lob out all the time.

yes last year we drafted a TE in the 2nd. the last time we did that? 2006. the time before that? 1997. then i stopped looking at 1980.

so we've done it three times, yet it's a fascination for a lot of people to make it seem like we do it every year when we've done it so little in 24+ years.

Total of 5 times in our history

Todd Christensen
Kendall Watkins
Anthony Fasano
Marty Bennett
Gavin Escobar

58 total 2nd round picks in that time.

C - twice
DB - 9 times
DE - twice
G - 7 times
LB - 12 times
QB - 3 times
RB - 6 times
T - 3 times
TE - 5 times
WR - 9 times

so if anything people should believe we go LB in the 2nd, or DB, or WR, or G, or RB before TE based on total draft history.

He's a rare transcending talent who will revolutionize the game if not the entire sports world.

Or he's yet another poor pedigree camp story that fans get too excited about and consider some proven commodity when he's never done a thing of note in the NFL.

But you can bet your bleep it's one of the two.

The name's Bass. Ben Bass.

If were able to add Greg Greyling, Walter Walleye, and Paul Perch to the front four, we'd really be um.... schooling people.

But it is odd that during the career of Jason Witten the Cowboys would use three 2nd round picks on other TEs.

Our numbers on TEs would look better if we and not the Raiders had convinced Todd he was a TE and not a RB.
