You’re looking at it from annual value whereas teams/players are looking at what percentage of the cap they can get.Maybe, but the highest paid now is $55 million per year, I think it's might nigh impossible any team would give Dak $65 million, that's a $10 million jump over the current high, the previous jump was like $2-3 million.
We hear the $60 million figure for Dak constantly, but he only has to get $56 million to be the new highest paid player in the league.
When you look at the newer Qb signings through this view it makes a lot more sense. Jordan love is technically the highest paid qb right now at $55m but is 10th in the league in percentage of the cap in the year they signed. Right now burrow is #1 at 25.5%. You match that percentage in todays cap and that is where the $60m for Dak comes from and the $65m next year would come from.
