Love the way he put his sons killers away. Planting gun... Alibi with bartender....Fake drunk when outside..

And how he knew they would be looking for him right at bar closing time after he let them know at the bar (fake drunkenly) that he knew they did it.

Didn't he remove the bullets from their guns as well? It didn't seem like they were able to get off a shot right away though I know they confiscated his gun as he was pretending to be drunk in the police car.

I got the sense that he was not welcome and had to see his granddaughter while she wasn't around if she is still alive in BB.

I don't think the granddaughter ever got the money - I think the DEA seized it and they were onto Mike hence him having to flee town before he was shot by Walt.

I never got the case he had to see her when she wasn't around.

He picks her up and takes her back in stuff in BB from what I remember. I could be remembering that wrong though. I know he sees his granddaughter on BB.

Also yeah he has a bunch of money for her that they seize to try and squeeze him and he decides to leave town before they can do anything to keep her from getting her money that he's put aside for her.

Only to be, ironically, shot because of what he, or people he knew, might do. That's part of what made last nights episode so good because his son is killed by his cop friends because they're afraid of what he might say. Walt winds up killing him because he's afraid of what Mike's friends might say.

He knew because he was also a cop and he was also dirty. He knew by saying that to them that they'd come and talk to him privately as soon as he was leaving to try and find out just what Mike might actually know.

Didn't Walt also kill him because Mike offended his ego? It seemed like he was planning to let Mike leave town but then he got rubbed the wrong way and just went off on him.

They took his gun, that he had no bullets in.

He hid his other gun, that was loaded, in his sleeve. He did this because he was pretty sure he knew they'd take his gun, shoot him with it, and plant it on him. That's why he didn't get the shot off in time on the guy with his gun. He fired and the gun was empty. Then Mike shot him but got him in the chest, where his vest was, instead of in the head or something that would have dropped him. The other cop have never pulled his gun to this point cause he was scared and then Mike shot him in the head.

There might have been a small amount of that but the majority of it was that he wanted Mike to give up the names of his guys. Walt was completely terrified that they'd talk because they were in jail and he didn't want to leave it to chance.

I believe Walt was perfectly fine with Mike leaving town. I think Walt trusted that Mike would never say a word and didn't mind Mike leaving. But he really wanted Mike to give him the names of the people. He was very angry and pushy about the fact that he didn't want Mike leaving without giving him those names.

I think the last little bit for him was that Mike didn't fear him and didn't believe that Walt was going to do anything to him to get the names. He was basically calling Walt's bluff that Walt wasn't bad enough to try and cross Mike for the names.

That last little bit was enough to make Walt snap and shoot him because he was really afraid the guys that worked for Mike would roll.

It was actually the second saddest death in the whole series for me. The only character I hated seeing killed off more than Mike was Hank.

Watching Jimmy/Saul just have life just crap all over him when he's actually TRYING to do the right thing is pretty heartbreaking. That scene at the end in that empty office was pretty tough. I feel for the guy.

I'm loving this show more and more every single week.

This particular episode was awesome. The way he works with Mike, the way he gets out of the deal with the wife and husband who've stolen that money, it's just amazing.

You see his beginnings in every sense of the word.
The effort, the failure, the will to be good but when having to make decision. He either is forced to make wrong one or financially makes wrong one.

We watch his hole getting deeper and deeper leading up to BB witness pro recite ending. But wait... Not yet.

He still has to rise... Hadn't happened yet..... "It's..... all.....good....... mannnnnn"

Jimmy has a big soul. While he often comes across as kind of a cockroach - pissing and moaning about the parking validation and whatnot lesser challenges... he almost always seems to come down on the side of the underdog in any more serious situation - and with dogged determination... often to his own detriment. The way he bailed out his love interest Kim (the female lawyer at HHM - Jimmy's personal windmill-to-tilt) while forgoing the opportunity to rip off her clients, the VERY stupid Kettlemans, for $1.5M... once Jimmy loves you - you are golden, baby.

Bob Odenkirk is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors. He vacuums up our empathy while playing one of the LEAST empathetic roles - that of the shyster lawyer. He's a real gem.

Ok. My in season summary.

I think this is a great show. Top show for me right now.

With that said. It is not on the same level as BB and I am not sure it can get there. (There is a chance)

Reasons:
1. We already know Saul's outcome. No mystery there.
2. His decisions are ones that take him in "wrong direction" it's not the same WW.

Like I said... Mid season summary. It could swing breaking bads way.

It's a great show.

I agree though it's not BB great and frankly I don't expect it to ever get to that level. I never did but I think it's going to be a great show all the same.

The show has really done a great job this season IMO.

I was worried after the first episode as it was really slow and just did not have much in it for me...but it has really went on from there.

I do wonder however how long they plan to run the show and how much they can do before it gets to the Walter White part.

They have soooo many more places to go. Mike's story line. I am sure, at some point, Tuco coming back, and maybe his story line, and also Gus. I honestly think, they could spin another series happening at the same time with Gus.

I just started rewatching Breaking Bad, and I am currently, in the middle of season 3. Something that I did not pick up on, but is a rumor out there, that kind of makes sense. Not saying this is 100%, but I just got done with this episode the other day. Maybe Walt left Gretchin when she was pregnant, she gave up the baby, which might be Jesse. Also, Walt Jr. is Ted's son, not Walt's. Just a little interesting story line.

At first. I thought he was too small time(his character) to carry a show. That was not the case.

I don't think I want too much more of mikes backstory. A little more of him leading up to BB is ok.

A little more of tuco is ok.

Gus perhaps could go a good distance.

Rumor from where? Son looks like he could be Teds but I do t think so.
Jesse I don't think so either.

Me too. And that's the great part. He has to rise at some point as "better call Saul"

Then he has to have a historical moment when he is.... IN BB.
