I dont think it is an issue of liking or not liking an extension, the problem is the alternative.

You cant trade Dak, so you either pay him or let him walk and if you choose the latter then what do you do at QB?

Lance has played 6 games in the NFL, you think he is ready to be a starter?

Cowboys will be picking in the 20s in the draft, you think you are drafting a franchise QB down there?

Sure you can alway hit on a Purdy like the 49ers, but there are 100 busts per every Purday when you get out of the top 10.

So the situation is not as clear as "has Dak earned a new contract", you have to take into account the alternatives available when making a decision like this.

I highly doubt Jerry is going to just let Dak walk out the door and have nobody to replace him with, but we shall see. Maybe Jerry will surprise us, you never know.
