Well you might go from winning 12 games a year to winning 3 or 4.

Besides, when did "winning SBs become the criteria for new contracts"?

Recent QBs who signed new contracts"
Josh Allen
Jalen Hurts
Lamar Jackson
Justin Herbert
Daniel Jones

Remind me again how many of these guys have won the SB.......Only 1 on the list has even been to a SB and he lost (Hurts).
I'd much rather have the higher draft pick that gives us a chance to get a franchise changing QB over winning 12 games just to be sent home in the Wild Card round.

I don't care about those QB's you mentioned. Their lack of success in the playoffs does not make me feel better about Dak's lack of success.

Wilson didn't get benched for his play on the field.
Wilsons stats this season are pretty comparable to Dak's actually.

Dak has like 800 more passing yards, but only 4 more TD passes to show for it.

Dak of course has about 80 more passing attempts than Wilson also.

Wilson has more rushing yards and rushing TDs. He has has 38 rushes for 1st down compared to Dak's 21.

Wilson would be an upgrade over Dak.

No offense but if your argument for signing Dak to a record deal consists primarily of "other teams have paid elite money for less than elite QB play too", then maybe you need a new argument

This "market value" shizzle drives me nuts. "It's the market. He's making market value. Polly wanna cracker, acckkkkk"

How about Dak shows why he should be the highest paid QB in NFL history with an argument that doesn't consist primarily of generic platitudes about market value and a bloated stat count built primarily by feasting on bottom feeder teams?

Ouch. But get ready, stats don't matter now. I'm sure they'll explain it to you

Bingo.

"Others have done what we're about to do. (And failed, just like we will). So why shouldn't we be excited about doing it too?"

What a crazy justification for something that deep down inside they know is unjustifiable

Sad that people don't understand what market rate means. It is not rocket science.

I understand what it is. I don't agree that it is a viable argument for paying elite money for less than elite play

Many people on this board justify the bloated contract Dak is demanding with generic platitudes about "market value"

It's a cheap cop out. They think it makes them sound "in the know" because they are parroting something they heard on NFL Network or some local media talking head show

It's like the emperor has no clothes. No one has the guts to question market value because everyone else is saying it so it has to be true. It's an intellectually void justification that has little, if anything, to do with what Dak has done to deserve being the highest paid player in NFL history.

"Deserve" has nothing to do with market rate. This is what so many people get hung up on. It is simply next man up. None of these choke in the playoffs qbs are worth over 20 mil per year. We all know that.

But market rate will dictate pay not playoff success until the owners stop falling for the oke doke.

I did see a few during the Super Bowls Wilson played in.
I don't remember any during the championships or Super Bowls Dak was in.
Ooops, Dak hasn't been in any.
Give me the #1 dominant defense and top 5 rushing attack. I show you a bunch of superbowl winners.

You like to gamble. Given chances of hitting on one of those is less than 10%.

Go fish

LOL.

About the same....but Dak has 800 more yards...that's about 20% more...only 4 more TDs thats about 20% more..

Yeah that's about the same.

Yards are an empty stat.

That's why 800 more passing yards only equals 4 more TD passes for Dak.

Dak also has 80 more pass attempts (So basically 2 games worth).

I agree with you 100%. Notice what I put in bold. I am not for that either. But quarterbacks will extort that money because you don't have another choice. Notice how price gouging is only wrong if the average person does it.

Quarterbacks have the leverage. It's great paying Mahomes or Jor Burrow. But paying Daniel Jones or Kyler Murray similar money, does that make sense? It doesn't. But if you don't pay them, they'll walk. What do you do? Right now the owners choose to pay. It's the only position in the league where you either get market value or backup money.
