Better To Bite The Bullet Than Extend Dak

Dak took a 4 year deal for a reason. He's planning on getting paid again. I wish that wasnt the case, but it looks like that's how it will go. There will be no discount.
Todd France doesn't play around.

Let Dak play out his contract and trade Micah Parsons + a 1 for the rights to draft the best qb in 2024 for the #1 overall pick to the Bears
You're not moving to the #1 overall pick with a late first rounder and Micah Parsons. It would cost more. Besides, the Bears just paid an edge rusher - they'd want multiple picks. How many are you willing to give up to roll the dice on drafting a first round QB? It's not like they all hit - ask the Jets, and others.

I'm not crazy about breaking the bank for Dak but the alternatives are not as simple as some make them out to be. And don't get me started on the Trey Lance fantasies...

Couldn't go any higher than that offer imo. Micah + Sweat would be pretty formidable, just depends on how sold they are on Fields. I don't see teams moving up substantially since I think the latest projection is about 6 NFL ready QB's. I dont think it will happen anyways, we might as well use our picks to plug other holes

There are three options

1) extend Dak and continue to play for a title in the current window which includes CeeDee and Micah with new deals as well.

2) cut Dak loose and sign a random free agent QB that will be a retread but still keep the rest of the team intact. Use the minimal savings you’re paying at QB to sign a non-pro bowl level NFL starter to a position of your choice.

3) burn it all down. Let Dak go. Trade Micah and CeeDee. Try to trade Diggs if you can. Full tank mode for a couple of years and pray you actually get a franchise QB who can actually deliver on the promise. Recent history shows this gives hope but no more of a guarantee than we have now. Likely a worse chance. You risk ten years of losing, but this is the path that many of the regulars around hear would welcome

That last option is actually almost a fetish for some types of fans who *love* being in perpetual rebuild mode because you always have hope, no matter how distant, and get to play career mode in Madden forever.
There are literally dozens more options. Geno Smith, Brock Purdy, Jalen Hurts, rookie QB’s, other journeyman QB’s have proven that if you continuously invest in good lineman, receivers, and the running game-the QB position can be more easily filled.

There are several teams that are putting up good consistent offensive numbers, but do not have elite QB’s. The ones with the top offenses invest heavily in the lines of scrimmage and skill players. From what I can tell, the QB’s biggest skill is to NOT do dumb stuff with the ball-hit the easy yardage plays when it’s there-feed the top playmakers.

Teams that do terribly with the running game, lines of scrimmage, and skill positions will make just about any QB look like crap. Daniel Jones and their offense looked much better last season when the Giants were able to run Saquan with much better success.

You and others are just overvaluing QB play. Most teams are hamstrung and have only 3 years (at most) to fully build a contender. It results in so many clubs in a rebuilding cycle-new front office, new coaching staff and as a result all new players. Impossible to grow for many clubs. Pittsburgh, Dallas, and Baltimore are more consistent teams because they are more stable in the front office and coaching staff (Baltimore does it better than Dallas but still).

I'm a Dak fan, love his story, but if you are gonna need every thing to be perfect around him in order to win against good teams and make a SB run, you simple can not give him that contract.

The Cowboys wouldn’t trade Parsons for the 1st pick in the draft.

That's kind of a lie... Are you forgetting all the post Aikman years? Jerry lucked into Romo and Dak. There's NO WAY anyone is talking about this franchise if not for Romo or Dak. The Cowboy way is LONG GONE. Only reason the team is relevant is because of Romo and Dak. Otherwise 5-12 every year. Don't be dumb.

Until they lucked into Romo it was futility.

I mean it is NOT perfect but at least we got playoff games to Beeotch about.
No, the main reason the team is relevant now is more consistent drafting and concentrating on line of scrimmage. That has slowly been taking place since they drafted Tyron all those years ago.

The Campo years were preceded by the Galloway trade fiasco, terrible overall drafting post Jimmy, and coaching upheaval. Those teams had ZERO chance-no matter who played QB. Too many here think QB’s bust when drafted high and cannot succeed because they just were not good. They bust usually because they went to a terrible team that had no chance to succeed, then the coach and front office get replaced before the team can be built around them.

Moving on from Dak does not guarantee cellar dweller, but it might mean lots more 8 and 9 win seasons.

I would love for Jerry to give these Dak haters exactly what they want and not resign Dak. I guarantee you after 2-3 years of Trey Lance or whichever other QB, they will be wishing we had Dak back.

Good thing Jerry and Company are not as ignorant. Just hope Dak is willing to give the Cowboys a little discount on his next upcoming extension.
Exactly look at the Commanders. RG3, Kirk Cousins, Alex Smith, Josh Johnsons, Colt McCoy, Mark Sanchez, Case Keenum, Dwayne Haskins, Kyle Allen, Taylor Heinicke, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Garrett Gilbert, Carson Wentz, Sam Howell and they just benched Howell for Jacoby Brissett. And this is just since 2016 when Dak Prescott took over as the QB for the Cowboys.
Oh and since 2016 their best record has been 8-7-1 and that was in 2016. A lot of 7 and 8 win seasons.

Get real. Washington does not have a team full of all-pros failing to win because of subpar QB play. They were a poorly constructed club with the worst ownership in the league (who just got booted along with the head coach-will likely take years to build the program into a quality team).

None of us really care.

The fun is in watching the fans and watching JJ play it up to the media.

I don't think people should be giving Dak those excuses anymore. He's paid to NOT need a running game. For most of the season he hasn't needed it. Would be nice if he had a reliable one though....
Since when does a QB salary determine the use of the run game? Which NFL QB in history has ever been paid to NOT need a running game? What kinda - is this? Quit pocket watching and enjoy the games!

I was mystified and disappointed when Lamb and Dak had such a great first Q in Miami then the rest of the game Lamb was left out in a Miami rain .

However on the flip side people on this forum were screaming for the Pokes to take a shot try and get Rodgers when his GB days were crashing . How’s that worked out in Jets land ?

An aging QB lasts 4 plays not only that they bring in his former OC from GB who’s been a dud and they sign a former GB Lazard at WR who’s done nothing . The whole GB thing is a bust in NY .

Sure Dak has had mixed results but the only way to move on to my way of thinking is a college pick and be prepared for growing pains ( losses ) .

And in this constant picking late in each round forget a top three prospect they are all gone when you pick 24 or later . It would take a highway robbery trade of draft picks to move up . Quite a situation at QB in Dallas .

With quarterback salaries expected to reach $60 million, the Cowboys are in no real rush to extend Dak.
He's never won anything, and hasn't proven that he can show up in big games. Instead, he has struggled every time the Cowboys needed him to be the reason they were able to get to the next level.
With a $59 million cap hit coming, the Cowboys will be better off to ride it out and demand that Dak earn his next extension.
He hasn't yet.
A bitter pill. But necessary to save us overall for the immediate future.

The best thing that could happen is for the Cowboys to win the SB with Dak and for the Cowboys to trade Dak. That trade would take courage on Jerry’s part, but teams love a SB winning QB and will swallow the price and picks given up in the trade.

Imagine posting the opposing coach giving bland and generic compliments about this weeks opposition in his weekly press conference ("he's calm and composed, and knows where to go with the ball") , and thinking that's somehow proving anything.

As if Campbell is going to come out and just eviscerate Dak and the Cowboys in his weekly presser .

This is beyond asinine. No matter how many emojis you slap on top of it:facepalm:
Dan Campbell is an errand boy, a company man! incapable of independent thinking?...just Capping for Jerry Jones pet aka Dak Prescott...

Dak Haters are Worthless....Get off my Block Sir....Go fund your undercover Coop Troope somewhere else....I know whom are really Boys For Life :lmao: :lmao:

Well said

And this is exhibit A why he'd never even be considered by our FO, no matter what the dollars add up to

He's an independent thinker and the total opposite of a company man/errand boy. Jerry doesn't like those types of people in his sphere
Dak Haters are hypocrites :lmao2: :lmao2:
Emojis all day Ma'am!!!
