Big Henson thread...(many merged)

ABQ, My sentiments, plus being a UM (Wolverines) fan, I obviously always try to root for Michigan player, unless they play against Cowboys.

Heck as much I disliked John Navarre during his years at Michigan, I still root for him to do good. Anyway, I hope he does good, but not come back and bite us though.

It would be the same thing if it was Romo in that place. I personally still can't buy into Romo yet. But maybe he will change my mind sometime soon.

And Hopefully, it will be my last word on the subject.

I hope we get some value out of him but I doubt we will.

I expect he will be releaced.

I have been a big fan of his since we signed him. This is not to say that I have been against Bledsoe or Romo but I wanted to see him do well.

Now he is gone and I wish him well. I hope he finds a good place to land and I will always pull for him, as a former Cowboy, unless he is against us.

I hope Bledsoe stays healthy, leads us to big things this year and puts together the kind of season that will get him a real shot at getting into the HOF.

I hope Romo continues to improve and I hope we have seriously found a diamond in the rough. I hope he does turn out to be our future.

I believe Bill did what he thought best. Not every decision he makes will be the right one but I believe he will always do what he thinks is best. I believe he will have more right decision then wrong ones and that's all you can ask. In the end, this decision may also turn out to be the right one.

Good luck to you Drew Henson.

Excellent post ABQ.

All these "I told you so's" and "Henson sucks" threads are ridiculous. We knew the board was going to blow up after the announcement/PC, but come on. I'll see you guys tomorrow when it dies down, and rationality has had time to set in. I expect to see a litter of bodies at the bottom of the canyon from all the suicides.

The sad thing is that it may blow up over a 3rd string QB.

We aren't talking about our starter getting released here, but a 3rd string backup. It shouldn't really even be that big of a deal.

I'll guarantee that our 3rd stringer that we cut next year will not even generate 2 threads.

I am a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and that is regardless of who the backup quarterback is. It amazes me how people on this board will debate endlessly on their own quarterback agendas. I'm reading posts with quotes like "I was a big fan of Henson" and phrases getting thrown around like "wasted talent". Let me clue you guys in to a universal set of truths. There is no debating these points as they are fact.

1- The coaches see these players in practice every single day. They spend every waking moment evaluating, breaking down, and analyzing every single facet of the players' abilities and tendencies. They meet until the wee hours of the night to discuss said players.

2- Believe it or not Jerry and BP have much more on the line than even the most ardent of fans. They have not only financial investments at stake but reputations which are under a daily media microscope to uphold.

3- Regardless of whay some of you may think, the people who make personnel decisions are infinitely more qualified to do so than anyone else and that includes, members of the media, sports analysts, and message board posters.

Please, let's trust decisions made which are for the best of our team and move on. There is nothing anyone can do, the Henson decision is beyond our control. Do not let things that are out of your control consume you.

I'm not sure any one here is "consumed" by Henson news or any other for that matter. Henson has been a topic and debate here among posters for quite some time. Is it that much of a shock that the biggest news of the day (Cowboys wise) just happens to be be......well....... the biggest news of the day? It's a Dallas Cowboys message board. Gee, I wonder what we should talk about?

I see your reading comprehension skills are still lacking. Didn't expect them to improve in a few days anyways.

BTW, how many aliases do you have?

I'm not suggesting the guy is a thief at all. He did what any one of us would do, and that is accept the money. I don't blame him.

I just don't want anyone to feel sorry for the guy that made $13m being a professional almost-ran / spare.

There are guys in every sport that hit this kind of lottery, some for even more obscene amounts of cash. I don't blame them, I blame the teams that gave them the money.

But it's assinine to feel sorry for a guy who made more money in 8 years doing less than most of us will in our entire lives working our ***** off.

Lots of people thought this 3rd stringer was going to become the next Aikman

Another person happy about the Dallas Cowboys misfortunes, Bad for the team but hey you called it!!! thump away!

Losing a 3rd round pick hurts, but it is in no way shape or form the end of the world. What difference does the cap hit make for us this year? None? I diddnt think so.

Which was crazy, IMO, from the get-go. Lots of people also thought that he wouldn't be.

Maybe he COULD HAVE BEEN had he just stuck with football and not gotten away from it in the beginning.

I wish him well in his future endeavors.

None?

Feeling sorry for a guy is the natural order of someone who exhibits empathy. Just because Drew made millions of dollars in two sports doesn't preclude someone from feeling sorry for what happened to him, because this isn't about someone "getting paid." Drew didn't just join the Cowboys to fleece the organization out of money.

Obviously, Drew already has enough money to not do anything for the rest of his life. But, he chose to try and make it a go at football. Just because he got paid for his potential doesn't give anyone a reason to denigrate him for "stealing" money. He's been a class act throughout his entire tenure here in the organization and doesn't deserve such nonsense.

A 3 Million cap hit hurts any year..... And the loss of another draft pick sucks. Period. BTW this is why your not paid to think....

I respect what you are saying and agree with it to some extent...

But...given what you state above, in your opinion, no team ever makes a mistake with regard to players?

Ryan Leaf? Heck some teams were thinking he was a better pick than Manning.

Uh, this Parcells guy chose Brunner over Simms as his starter.

They all make mistakes.

And to what extent does your thinking go? Do you placidly watch games, never second guess, never get upset when a certain play is run, etc?

They all make mistakes.

Is Henson one?

We don't know yet. But he was certainly talented enough to be a third string QB. Something stinks here.
