Bill Belichick. It has to happen

Unfortunately this franchise is nowhere close to a spot where a coach can take them over the top. Someone you can build with into the future is what they should be looking for…not a guy that has MAX 3 years of coaching left. Bellicheck would be a stop gap publicity stunt for Jerry to grab headlines.

I already don’t care for retreads. Especially one that already won a Super Bowl elsewhere. But if Bill does indeed come, Jerry will have to give up the micromanaging. If a player isn’t good enough, Bill cuts him. If a player isn’t playing well, Bill benches him. Jerry cannot in any way be in the way. To give up even a little inch of that will spell disastrous in Dallas. I have my doubts that Jerry will do that.

Personally think Bill would be a stop gap.

There is little doubt, in my mind, that Jerry wants BB in the worst way possible and not because it would uplift the franchise and create a winning environment capable of producing a SB. That’s never going to happen under Jerry, I don’t care who the coach is. Jerry wants this for the headlines and the constant media spotlight it would produce.

I’m not so sure BB wants that, but even if he does, he won’t make a lick of difference here when it comes to winning a SB. He wont move the needle one inch towards that goal. It’s like saying you can have an igloo sustainably exist in the Amazon rainforest in a natural setting. The environment for success is broken in this franchise. They won’t participate in FA. Jerry and Stephen won’t learn the detailed minutia necessary to creatively manage modern day salary caps, and most of all, Jerry is the main filter for all decision making. It’s a formula for making money while never having any real success on the field.

People are missing the point. Regardless of if Jerry is here or not, Bill Bellicheck brings accountability. The minute he walks into the building the players know the circus (at least on the field) is over. They will be held accountable for the lack of effort and the penalties. The games where we seem unprepared don't happen. We don't get out coached every game.

Will Jerry still be Jerry. Of course. But we still have enough talent on this team, (plus a high draft pick) for a coach to come in and get the most out of it.

Another retread. Cowboys fans crave mediocrity.

He can put together a specific defensive game plan with mostly subpar talent. Brady would have not gotten that 6th ring without Bill. Under any other coach, the Rams would have killed them. That being said, I don't think he would work under Jerry as GM, plus Prescott is a mess as our QB1. Agree that we do need a smart guy who will cut and bench people though. Not nearly enough fear in that locker room.

You’re dreaming. Jerry will not back off for anyone. Parcells came in and worked with Jerry, but BB is far less flexible with his autonomy than Parcells. I don’t see these two getting along. I can see them trying potentially to craft a relationship that builds a winning franchise, if BB doesn’t mind the media circus show Jerry craves, but the relationship will fail.

Belichick is a genius when it comes to clock management , strategy , and getting away with plays that are barely legal but if he doesn't have a decent QB , then he can flush all those attributes down the toilet .

A 30-year-old playbook and a 24-year-old girlfriend.

Sounds like Jerry's type of guy!

BB and JJ have fundamentally divergent philosophies on building a team; BB generates draft picks by getting rid of players who will command a high-dollar contract at, or close to, the apex of their careers, where their value is highest for maximum draft capital.
While Jerry holds on to these players past their prime after he has paid them huge contracts and gets little to no realistic draft capital in return.
I like the no-nonsense style of BB, but how would that play with the sense of entitlement that apparently permeates throughout the team?
I think that Jerry would hire BB only if he was desperate to change the culture of the Cowboys, but Jerry’s denial is so profound that I don’t think he recognizes that a change is due.

72 year old coach looking for one last pay day , working for a 92 year old gm, that’s the formula for success in today’s NFL

Nah. No more old retreads. Horrible coaching tree and overall staff. Jerry will do though, because it's a big name.

Belichek without tom is terrible .
Yes, it was Tom that built the team. Belichick was brilliant when he was with Bill Belichick. And he was brilliant without him. He was great with Tom. If people only really understood.

I’d like to see a guy truly evaluate this D line and finally get it going. It’s been a complete joke. The front 7 is really a bottom feeding group. Even with Parsons and Lawrence on the field. That needs to change drastically!
