Parcells is looking to gain multiple early picks, and also wants to avoid paying a high contract to a player who could very likely be a bust. The Dolphins already have four picks in the first two rounds of the draft, but likely will try to add more as they overhaul their 1-14 team.

Makes sense. there is no all world guy in this draft with the possible exception of McFadden- and the Fins need a lot. And they have a pretty good back in Ronnie Brown. Smart thing to do is to trade it for players and or picks.

If I was BP I would talk to jerrah about getting a couple of our backups that he knows and our 2 picks- which he can then trade for multiple 2nd and 3rd rd picks. THAT would do the most for the fins.

Makes sense.

I wonder what he does about the QB position?

I wonder if he will be more patient and draft one since he doesn't have to coach him?

If I am rebuilding a franchise, that is the first thing I try to shore up.

Trading back sounds good, but is there going to be a trading partner?

If Jerry Jones trades our two 1st rounders to Miami, I'm gonna flip a lip.

it's possible we'll trade. but it won't be our 2 1s for their 1. it would be a lot of pick swapping overall to give us the upper edge in the 1st couple of rounds and the dolphins the edge in the later stages.

dolphins #1 and #2
for
cowboys #1s in the 1st, our 2nd, 2nd next year and maybe a 4th or player. not sure how that ads up points wise but if parcells is really looking to trade down i can see jerry working the #'s to make everyone happy and getting that pick.

now that the season is over and next year is underway for some - we can finally talk realistic scenarios about what we can see or may see.

Wow... they could end up with about 6 picks in first 2 rounds and an extra one for next year or one later one this year.

Its the smart move. Parzini was always smarter.

Makes sense. They need a quantity of quality.

I watched Parcells' Miami press conference. He essentially said that if they use (rather than trade) their first round pick, they need a player who will make a significant impact for many years. Obviously, he also wants a player with relatively low bust potential.

If he can't trade the pick, I'd guess that Parcells would prefer to go OT (i.e., Jake Long).

But what does it matter what Parcells thinks? His GM will be making all the decisions anyway. ;)

TAKEN FROM ANOTHER FORUM: Parcells Press Conference

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bill was great as always. He mentioned the three things he feels are basic to turning a team around.

Player/talent acquisition
Talent development
Coaching

the main thing that stuck with me on this is that he mentioned having to be comfortable with the philosophy of the people he brings in. The first cog of "getting a personnel person (in place)" was in reference to the GM. I think he looked worried about that endeavor. I think this will be his first move and I think he will go after people he has definite familiarity with...like Ireland .

I'm not saying we will lose Ireland but as cantankerous as he is there is a definite charm to Parcells. I think with the help of some serious Miami schmoozing, Parcells will get the exact GM he wants.

I just hope Jerry steps up and pays the difference to keep Ireland here cuz I agree with Parcells the personnel department is the most important part of an organization.

why stop there when you could parlay those picks into multiple lower picks and so on and so forth.

For multiple picks to work, BP needs Ireland. The question is what is BP willing to give up to get him?

:)

Parcells will make sure that his GM and his head coach have "the same philosophy."

It is rumored that Parcells will require his GM and head coach to wear lucky WWBD bracelets.

What I don't get why is it such a forgone conclusion to some fans, and media people that Ireland, and Garrett's departures are etched in stone after the season.

No one really knows what is going to happen regardless of what some talking head, or fan says.

My point exactly if Parcells, wants it that way then he should give up something in return for what he wants and according to most reports that someone is Ireland.

From what I've heard is that Ciskowski, would be a good replacement if this indeed happens with Ireland.
